I have 4 kids who are a little younger than yours. I keep trying to convince my husband that he would love van life. He’s not convinced yet. Maybe I’ll tell him he can make all the dad jokes he wants. 😂
What about A/C / heat for the kids when you are driving? Does it ever too hot or too cold? Do you rely on the AC/ heat in the front. We are deciding weather to keep the factory AC in our van
I was pretty excited to watch this video until one of your children needed to use the toilet and your first response was “just go out into the woods, grab some toilet paper”. That honestly goes against road rules as well as being illegal in some states. If you MUST use the woods as your toilet you are supposed to take a shovel and burry it at least12” down (some places 2’) so many people have hit the road without taking personal responsibility with them. The trash and vandalism in the parks is at an all time high and now being able to use BLM land is even starting to be taken away in some areas. Just from the first few minutes I’ve lost interest from your just use the woods comment.
Love to see more info on the solar mounted above the roof top AC. We have the same exact Sprinter with rooftop AC and tackling the solar addition soon!
Hi we are in the process of doing a skoolie. We have been homeless for right at two years in August and we got a school bus. I am so looking forward to road school our 5 year old Autistic Son. I so want to do that tent to the bus. That is so cool. I need details on that please. I have my info on my channel.
I'm watching you guys from 🇧🇷 and I really love this van build! I have a daughter and she's 1.6 yo and I'm so afraid of doing this but it's my dream and if u guys can do it with 4 children I definitely can do it too❤️
Thanks, Michelle! It was actually the last row of seats in the van! We took it out and converted it to fit in the front row. We can shut the sliding door easily, but it left no room to walk from the front to the back without the door being open. Just keep that in mind! It served us well though!
Do the kids get hot in the top tent? Do all four sleep well together? We have 4 as well aged 4-12. Also, is safety a thought with going up and down the ladder?
They sleep great up there! Never had an issue. Honestly, we were never concerned about safety with the ladder. And we traveled in the fall, so had cooler weather almost every night, but I could definitely see it getting hot up there on a warm night!
I am so happy I came across your channel! I’ve always wanted to live a van but with 3 kids I also homeschool, I have been putting it off. You have given life to my dream again! Thank you!!
We love your video! There are not many van builds with kids. I could not find a link or description of the rooftop tent you have. We need to purchase one soon.it’s so perfect for a family! Thank you!
Are you guys still in the van full-time? I also have 4 kids, and you're the only family of 6 that I've seen on RU-vid doing van life (not RV). Because of the type of work that I do, we can't do full-time van life. So, I want a van for short but frequent roadtrips. Something more comfortable than just a typical minivan but not an RV. This is probably the closest to my dream that I've seen on RU-vid so far. Thanks for sharing 👍
This was a great video I love how you guys are spending time together working together. I love how the boys helps with the tent. This give me something to think about While I’m doing my research. We are planning a van life not full time but when ever we want to leave and go travel. We are HC parents this is idea. You guys make the set up seems so easy and affordable. Thank you for sharing 🙏
I think someone big enough to steal your kids climbing on top of your van would wake one of the parents up. It is not at all like the parents being in a separate RV and a knife cutting a tent on the ground level which wouldn’t shake the foundation of your tent at all as in the Yates case. IMO, it’s pretty ingenious, gives the boys some autonomy, without danger.
