Retro Spectia is a nostalgically-charged review channel focusing on the toys, games and films, that forged the immortal pop-culture of the 80's and 90's with a very special emphasis on the sentiment attached to the memories of that time.

When the Duocons came out, my older brother got Flywheels - the jet/tank combo - while I got Battletrap - the helicopter/truck duo. I thought Flywheels was so much cooler than Battletrap. I was rather jealous, so much that when Siege released an updated version of Flywheels some 20 years later, I snatched it up immediately.
I was around 6 or 7 when I got him, absolutely adored the Jet part for whatever reason. Was one of those toys that I carried everywhere with me. Lost it eventually and only had the tank half after that. Say, you didn't grow up in Ontario did you? lol
I agree with you about the Vortex mask seeming a bit out of place on him. I actually found out years ago (by accident) that it happens to look GREAT on the 2nd Hondo MacLean (the yellow and purple one that came with Hurricane). Worth checking out if you get a sec.
The fingerprint is definitely on every example I've ever seen...and it's definitely weird and baffling. Hopefully, Stoneheart will end up being the one you're looking for (because the next most likely candidate will be Spearhead, and he is NOT cheap). Good quickie review.
Objectively speaking, Dirge is probably the most forgettable of the seekers. However, he'll always be a favorite of mine strictly because he's the one seeker I had as a kid. Sometimes there's just no competing with nostalgia and childhood memories. :) Good to see the old boy getting some attention.
You might be thinking of Sticks 'n Stones (the two-headed guy). He can sometimes look mostly black in pictures, but he actually uses a swirl of green and black plastic. Plus, he's got two heads...so you can't go wrong. Stoneheart is more of a blue color up close (he's cool, though). Tombstone's also great. In addition to the serpentine look, I also get sort of an Aliens xenomorph vibe from him.
Actually that was my next thought at this stage of the quest to find him! I love Sticks n’ Stones. But it ended up being Stoneheart. Thanks for watching my videos and the comment!
I am not Siskel, nor I Ebert, and, too, I am no Rex Reed, so a critique on my part would fall short, I fear, but I can say this. I enjoyed the movie watching experience. I'm a man who watched all the available episodes of Dr. Who from 1963 forward, and I am adept at the art of suspension of disbelief, production values not withstanding. I will borrow from the Duke in Moulin Rouge when he quipped succinctly, "Generally, I liked it."
Would you count Barrage, Ransack, Venom, and Chop Shop from 1985 as Insecticons? I don't remember ever seeing them in the cartoons. It was always Kickback, Bombshell, and Shrapnel.
I would DEFINITELY count them as legitimate insecticons! But because they came later and aren’t nearly as celebrated as the original 3, there’s a bit of a divide between them I think. I did have a Chop Shop as a kid and loved him
@@retrospectia They wouldn't be on my wish list if I were a G1 Transformers collector. The original 3 were the most remembered. I would only want those because they were in the cartoons.
Theory: The turbines are part of an air conditioning system for Dusty so that he doesn't sweat his ass off while he's sitting inside Billboard Blast waiting for his chance to pop the side panels down and spring into action. :)
oh the struggles of being a collector lol. Wanting to play with my toys but having to constantly remind myself to take care because most are old and rare, i bought them with my own sweaty money and most of them are really expensive and not replaceable because if it breaks it's broken, one little piece of history gone
I respect you. But at the same time. I have all these legacy figures outside of their boxes fully transformed and casually played with whenever I come home from work
The toys definitely got crappier with Transformers the Movie. The characters also got a lot more eccentric. Optimus Prime and Megatron definitely kept their troops in line. After them both factions were literally an island of misfit toys.
