Turtles and fishes are natural enemies my turtles have been eating fishes since they are babies also depending on how big a turtle they can eat fishes whole.
I’m actually thinking of getting a backyard pond, and I don’t know whether to get a painted turtle or a red eared slider, the articles i’ve read says that painted turtles are extremely cold resistant and are native to my region which is good. I’m not too sure if red eared sliders are but I think they might be. I just wanna which would be the best to live in a decently size pond (probably around 500 gallons.) So please give feedback!
Both red eared sliders and painted turtles are pretty hardy, but just know that red eared sliders grow to be much larger in size than painted turtles, so you would probably have to get less of them compared to if you were to get painted turtles. Hope this helped and good luck on your pond building endeavors :)
yea baby turtles are weak and easily get lung infections especially baby red eared sliders i recommend raising turtles with a shell length of 5cm or above also if it rained pls close the lid if you are planning to keep him out doors or lung infections will easily occur in baby turtles
