Sad all those Welsh tanks were scrapped. The 5600s at the time kept derailing and lessons weren't learned.

Interesting/informative/entertaining. Excellent photography job enabling viewers to better understand what the orator is describing. Have always found steam locomotives 🚂 of more interest then diesel locomotives.Remember the daring ( 1963 ) Great Train Robbery documentary. Not many of that magnitude committed in England.

IInteresting/informative/entertaining.. Excellent photography job enabling viewers to better understand what the orator is describing. Special thanks to motion photography personal. Making this presentation more authentic and possible. For future generations to better appreciate & enjoy -!!!😉. Remember the " Immortal Icon " steam locomotive engineer Casey Jones. Whom perished breaking the locomotive before rear ending a disabled train on a curve -???. I'm certain British R.R. systems had a few of those horrible accidents. 😲. Viewing this presentation from the comfort zone of my computer room. Along the " Space Coast " 🚀 of Florida 🐊🐊. Wishing viewers a safe/healthy/prosperous ( 2024 )🌈🎉😉.

How possible would it be to build a W from a Bachmann N class?
@SouthernRailwayModelling
@SouthernRailwayModelling 7 месяцев назад
It's doable - there's a resin body kit out there for just that purpose. The main thing you'd need to alter is the cylinder profile. the rest would be much less obvious.

Your model came out so nice I hope you won’t mind a couple of questions. I just received 2 of these cab kits from RT Models and was wondering about some of the components. First It appears the cab window assembly is to be installed on the outside of the cab and then the second window is installed from the inside of the cab, correct? Second, there are a number of small etched parts on the cab etching including 5 small rectangles and a number of what appear to be etched rivets. The latter of these are under the cab roof hatch. I am at a loss as to what these are. Any other tips you might care to share will be greatly appreciated. Beautiful job, including the paint work.

What a pity the cameraman never recorded the apparently brief periods of the two Brighton Pacific tank engines at Basingstoke, nor for that matter other moments where a Brighton Atlantic H1 and/or H2 were there.

Question, are these engines related to the LNERs atlantics in some way?
@scottlewis775
@scottlewis775 3 месяца назад
Not sure if you’re still waiting on an answer, but yes, closely actually. D. E. Marsh worked originally for the GNR and, after becoming CME for the LBSCR, created the H1 Atlantic by “obtain[ing] a set of drawings of the large-boilered GNR Atlantics from Doncaster, and made only detailed amendments before ordering them from the manufacturer.” The H2s like Beachy Head were a modified design by L.B. Billington; aside from the running board, the biggest change was the use of superheating.

Great railways footage, brings back many memories of my trainspotting days in the 1950s, spending hours on Doncaster station `spotting`, back then, health and safety took a back seat, I can remember going around sheds in the Glasgow and London areas in the middle of the night with our local railspotting fans club, yeh good memories.

No real discussion of war-related operations, steam loco import or export types, or the emergence of the first diesels. All in all not that satisfactory a documentary. (Perhaps that shows why it has been little-viewed on this post.)
@TheGaugeOGuild
@TheGaugeOGuild Год назад
It is probably more to do with the lack of film content from the war years as it was an offence at the time. Additionally, those who were likely to have been able to film were likely to have been too busy engaged with war work or in the forces. Film stock would have also been in fairly short supply.
@whispofwords2590
@whispofwords2590 Год назад
dude shutup. You have all this great footage of all these marvelous locomotives and their history but you want to deem it insufficient for not covering something beyond its scope? God it's like people on the internet just have to find something to bitch about. There are plenty of documentaries covering those things independently.

@@TheGaugeOGuild l have a lot from the IWM as shot during the war by the army. All mute footage and of course B&W but could always be changed to colour these days if required. So far mostly how the army used the railways not just run by’s as shown here.

*_WOW!!!_* There is just *SO MUCH* to be seen here! 🤯🤯🤯🤯 There is so much I recognise from my modelling and from preservation, and so many new sights to be seen!!! I can't wait to see the 50s and 60s scenes (although it means the death if steam) and what Nationalisation brings! It's also quite something to look at all these trains and see (almost) no BR anywhere! All the wagons say LMS/GW/SR/NE or older! The coaches are all LMS/GWR/SR/LNER - no Mk1s yet! No BR Standards yet either! 😮

Amazing stuff! It's 🤯 that so much good quality footage of the "Big 4" survives from the 1930s, and even more so that someone bothered to record so much in so much detail!

Have you ever had to replace the main driver gear on a Bulleid Pacific? Does Hornby sell a replacement? Are the current production replacement driver sets compatible with the older models of these? Mine is cracked and needs a new gear.

If you can get it to run that well with Gibson wheels I'd love to see a video of you fitting them. I'm not criticising Gibson wheels, but I do find them very tricky to set up. I should add that I'm not the most experienced builder.
