The Taube Center for Jewish Life & Learning is dedicated to enriching Jewish life in Poland and to connecting Jews from around the world with their East European heritage.
What particular ‘donuts’ are you referring to? From your comment I’ve absolutely no idea whether you’re appreciating and supporting what Professor Lipstadt is putting forward or arguing against it. (From either a hardcore or softcore perspective)
Thank you so much for this important talk! I am myself in an artistic research about memory, resilience and an artistic interpretation of remembrance of current forms of memorials. I just bought the book of Natalia Romik and you helped me a lot to deepen my field of knowledge.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of Majdanek camp. My Grandmother’s brother was murdered there in 1942, but we can’t find any records from the camp. He was only 20 years old 😢 I will definitely buy your book to learn more about what Janina did in Majdanek.
From your narrative:"During the WWI the Germans partially devastated the synagogue". Perhaps you should add that there are no Jews left in the village because all of them were taken out into the forest by the Nazis and murdered.
There was no such thing as ,,holocaust" in Poland. There was no Poland in that time. It was ,,Gross Deutschland!". The GERMAN occupation, the GERMAN terror under the GERMAN law. If you are going to Dublin, many start from an other place, that ,,holocaust in Poland".
They were chased out of France and Germany during medieval time and Poland and eastern Europe in general gave them refuge and a home for many centuries. It's Ashkenazi jews Yiddish🤗
Can you make sure that we know the names of the films that they have done before the session is over, so we can go and see them or investigate if we could see them. Most informative
Gribenes, Ptcha, Schrav, Borsht, Chicken Soup. Kugels, Pletzl, Cherry Vishnic, stuffed cabbage, kreplach, strudel, rugelach, challah French toast on Sunday, or cream cheese stuffed French toast, blintzes, farmer cheese. Drinking Tea through a sugar cube in a large sour cream glass.
This is so special. Such a much needed valentine to those who so tragically perished. It's just as important to remember that they were vibrant people as it's to remember how so many of them were murdered
Most hiding places were quite prosaic: attics, cellars, dugouts in fields and forests, bunkers, etc., many Ingeniously camouflaged. However, I am impressed by Natalia Romik's dedication to tell the story of the efforts of Jews to survive the Holocaust and of the courage of those in the local population to shelter their Jewish brethren. I would venture to guess that the overwhelming majority of those places no longer exist.
seems the jews that fled to the forest and hid in various places had a better chance of surviving the war than the Jews that went to the concentration camps.
This talk gets better and better as it goes along. Really excellent, thanks. The conversations that consider the role of perpetrators alongside the centrally important work of representing victims' experiences in 'meaning making' are enlightening. Also, really grounded thoughts on selfies at memorial sites and the role of fiction towards the end. So glad to have spent the time watching. Thanks again.
It seems again tge world is doung luttle as aytocrats take cobtrol, hate rises, and Outin invades Ukraune. It seems like Czevklosavkia and Spain all over again.
Hi, I don't know if you remember but we had lunch at a small Cafe when Irv and I were on tour of Poland via the JFCS San Francisco and Anita Friedman. You look terrific ! what a wonderful program. Mazel Tov. Bonnie Lasky and Irv Rothenberf
