At 3:56: BOO BOO BOO BOOOOO !!! OUCH !! If 9 had a dollar for every time I have cut myself building a model boat: I would have a thousand dollars. I have become much more careful in my old age. I am building the Krick Models Happy Hunter, and I am nearly finished. I have only cut my finger one time. Sorry about your cut finger. Very nice build.
Thanks for the comment John, I’m familiar with the happy hunter it’s a nice model. I’ve just finished building billing boats smit Rotterdam and I’m currently working on the Scottish maid and the San Juan Nepomuceno. If you don’t cut yourself as a model ship builder then your not doing it right 😂
the MFA motor along with hobbywing QUICRUN 1060 Brushed Waterproof gearbox was perfect for this kit. the pitch is built into the kit but the propeller provided was to small to push the 1lb of lead i used for ballast along with the running gear so i used a bigger prop i had to hand and that worked fine. though i would suggest buying a brass propeller if your thinking of building the nordkap.
i'm a member of the billing boat official builders group on Facebook, i've been talking with Kenneth Ireland as we're both at the same stage of building the Smit Rotterdam. i'm sure most of the members over there will have already watched this video.
thank you for the kind words Tom and believe me you are VERY capable of building something like this, all it takes is some basic tools a little knowledge of woodworking and a lot of patience.
it took me 15 months to build robert so i hope you can appreciate that a step by step youtube video would have been 14 hours rather than 14 minutes. good luck on building your kit.
