Well, it was 1947, and the idea that someone would pick through his words to come up with some phantom reason to get offended on behalf of someone else (who is also dead by this point, FYI) never crossed his mind... I'm sure you can get reparations from the commentators great grandchildren if it's really that important to you. Believe it or not, some people might have found it interesting and even MORE admirable to know that Babe Ruth was willing to adopt a child and raise her... He didn't say anything untrue. Way to go, you've found a way to get offended by someone stating the truth, that's gotta be like a gold medal for folks like you.
He is and will always be the greatest Baseball Player ever. He did it without steroids and no weight training. A natural at the profession he loved. Babe, you are my Idol.
@@JenniferMedina-bg1zb I’m not ‘like’ 95: using ‘like’ in every other sentence is one of the habits of stupid young people who watch RU-vid and stare at their phones all day and night. Are you one of them? It’s like, literally like, ok, like… and FYI RU-vid has no age restrictions. And, like, I know more about baseball than you ever will.
@@cadaverdog1424 i literally used the word “like” one time. And you talk pretty disrespectful on a computer which is a very bad look. Only cowards blow up and attack someone so suddenly like that online. And your knowledge of baseball isn’t going to impress me or anyone else. It’s a game. I focus my knowledge in more important and meaningful areas of life. Have a nice day, boomer.
When I was a kid, he was like Superman to me. Now that I just turned 53 myself, it shocks me how incredibly young he was to be that sick and frail. Everybody always assumed that he got throat cancer from smoking cigars. As it turns out, it was a rare form of sinus cancer (nasopharyngeal?) that's usually hereditary. I'm glad that he enjoyed the time that he had. RIP Babe!!!
How much of the hatred directed at this man has been due to all the retconning of his life by woke sportswriters who needed to boil all the injustice they wanted to portray and write and talk about into the actions of one whipping boy for their sermons? On the field, he was a take no prisoners hardass and easy to hate if you weren't a Detroit Tigers fan. Off the field, he was no saint, but he was a product of his time like everyone else. I despise presentism. Isn't it funny how everybody suddenly wants to turn it off on D-Day?
Unfortunately again. We sold another spot yesterday. And despite advertising the hell out of it we STILL haven’t been able to close this one out. We apologize, it went from one a week to suddenly a few weeks for this one.
I love it how many of these oldie-time silent movies (that were all shot in 18 frames per second) and once were all sped-up when they were played at 24 FPS; they have all gotten a proper transfer and restoration to video. We can now see historical figures as they moved and lived back then.
Wow the Yankees took their sweet ass time retiring his number. Eh, how much time does this guy have to live?? Oh, two months?? Yeah now sounds like a good time!!
Fascinating... this mans swing was pretty much the complete opposite of what players are taught these days and he was arguably the greatest/top 3 hitters of all time.
