Having just watched Atkinson, Bashir and Smith all contribute massively in dismantling a rather average West Indies side in the three match series brought me back here. The lyrics are very apt, here's hoping our current generation of young Lions roar louder than ever 🦁 🏏
This is, without doubt the ALL TIME best TV theme tune ever written. A 7/4 (or 7/8) time signature, brilliant orchestration, flawlessly played, immediately recognisable, completely of it's time, yet timeless. Well done Mr Grudin!
So many of these - if not all of them - are actually the best moments in TV. Blue Peter was never better than when an elephant shat in the studio then dragged its keeper through it on his ass. THIS IS WHAT WE WANT!
This was not long before this theme music was retired at the end of 1981. At the beginning of 1982 it was replaced with what was to become the Calendar theme for a good few years.
Why was there a test pattern? I thought Screensport took over directly after Lifestyles sign off. At least via Intelsat. In the mornings there was Kindernet.
IIRC, the colour bars with the Lifestyle logo were actually shown before the start of transmissions each day, and I just used them to link the old & new end of day sequences together. Cheers.
