As explained in the video, I would normally use compressed air to clean machine out fully. You can clearly see I briefly showed cleaning with a brush because not everyone has access to compressed air and I also explained I was doing a quick clean for brevity. A little dust has no adverse effect on the machine's ability to sew. Admittedly, I could've cleaned it more but I was just demonstrating the service procedure and is not a full restoration.
Thanks, even though I don't have the ability to fix my machine, I liked the way you explained it. I will share this video with all my acquaintances on social media.
Update: I cannot get my Juki repired on-island it seems. So, I watched this video again and found my problem is the same you found, the looper shaft seized. I've now tried some penetrating oil, and will be paying attention to that for a while. Thanks millions.
Thank you so much for posting this video! I inherited my mom’s serger and was struggling to thread it using the manual. You made the gruelling process so much easier. Much appreciated!
I had the same problem and it was solved thanks to your video. Be careful however: beneath the ceramic part is a white plate as you can see on the video. I am sure this is ASBESTOS containing material! Moisten it a little bit before tampering with it. To avoid any ASBESTOS fibers flying around
Many Thanks once again for a fantastic video ...In part one you said you may make a video on disassembling the upper thread tension unit .. mine is not releasing the tension when I lift the lever...I have the tension unit im my hand but do not understand how to take it apart ...can you help ...Thanks ..Fintan in Ireland
Thank you, I picked up a used 830 from an opshop and found it wasn't able to trigger the zig zag. Looks like it just needs an oil, but um what grease should I use on the gears, mine is dry as a bone.
I’m having a serious problem with the hand crank and the needle position bar and I have backstage passes from my 80s touring with rock bands all over my machine and I hesitate bringing it in to service since my guy retired two years ago. Any tips on helping me get my Bernina 930 record back on top it, I pushed it I have to confess I was doing some shears and I could hear it grinding and I just kept sewing because I had to go to a clients and deliver and it grind it right down to a stop and good thing I had another machine although it was my consew and it was heavy duty but I managed to make it work but now I’m sitting here trying to fix my machine I’ll send you a picture…
My bobbin spinner is working so my belts are OK all my dials work the lights work …the only thing is it froze up and I did hear a grinding, so I’m sure I just pushed it to the limit and I have the bottom plate off. I have the bobbin case out completely. I took the side left off with a light is to look into the needle bar area where the spring is a course at the top off but not the side with the hand crank or the back… so I am just trying to clean it with alcohol and trying to shimmy it so I can at least get some movement I had it earlier and then I plugged it in and tried to use it to see if it I got it and it froze up again 😢
Thank you so much for this video. I opened the panel for the pulleys and the belt for the lower one is frayed. Now, I know what's needed to get the machine humming. It is time for a servicing but I will be able to identify the "fix" (hopefully no others needed) for the technician.
Hi! Thanks a lot for the very helpful video. I came out to get a marvelous Husqvarna 21, now that it is repaired I would like to fin gear cams to complete the set: I am looking for cams A and B, and am also interested in D and E if someone doesn't use them! Do you know where I could find such parts? None on eBay at the time being
Thank you for your videos! They are very helpful. May I ask if you have any advice regarding replacing the handle of the Singer Genie 354? I bought this machine used and the handle was already broken off completely.
Very nice. 👏. As an additional hint, I tape painter’s tape (blue) to the underside of the screw bracket of the feed dog cover. In this way, I don’t scratch the machine bed. 🥰
Very nice video. 👏 I place some painter’s tape (blue) or masking tape under the screw slide of the dog feed cover. In this way, I don’t scratch the bed of my machine. Thank you. 🥰
Great video, thanks. I have one of these machines and tried to replace the drive pulley, as instructed in one of your other videos. However, perhaps the motor shaft is longer or the motor positioned differently, but there seems to be no way to get the pulley off without lowering the motor. Now I know how to do this. Thanks.
Your explanation of what each part of the machine does is so very helpful! I have a motorized 1928 Singer 66 and your video is just what I needed to understand the parts and get mine oiled up. Your close up parts in the video is great! Love your bottle for dispensing oil.
Always terrific videos! Just found a 1947 201k at an opshop in Auckland. Had have from the 50s in the garage but this one is in the mintest condition and came with attachments. Cannot wait to start playing with every gadget! Cheers
