@@summersnowflake70 thanks for that info...my man and grandad lived at the top of Wolverham road/Stanney lane one of the two house that are on the angle number 123
I'm 91 yrs old, lived in Whitby from my birth in 1933. The early part of this fantastic animation transported me back to my childhood years up to 1948 when my family moved away. The level crossing and the cattle arch were a part of every day life. Shopping was "going down the port". I was delighted by the glimpse of the Pioneer office where the local newspaper was printed.and where I had a summer holiday job for pocket-money. Next door was The Queens Cinema, we kids called it the flea-pit - the Hippodrome cinema was our choice. Next door was The Majestic ballroom, and nearby the Carnegie lending library. The Rivacre Valley swimming pool was the centre of our summers. At one time, I could name all the shops from The Knot to Dock Street! I could go on ... Happy care-free days in spite of the air-raid sirens! Again, congratulations to the gifted team who produced this brilliant piece of work! I shall come back from time to time.
@@Edward2733 What a lovely comment you have made here and i'm so glad it's brought back so many happy memories for you. It's great for me to read about things that stuck in your mind like your summer holiday job and the nick name of the Queens cinema being the "the flea pit" As for remembering all the shop names,I totally understand that as i to can remember things like that. So please do come back here from time to time and even share it with friends of yours if they are from the town of Ellesmere Port. Take care and thank you. Paul
Hello there. Yes all 3d models were made in Blender. Models were then textured in 3dcoat and substance painter. Scenes built, animated and recorded in Unity. Rendered scenes then edited in Premiere Pro.
Amazing. I love the fact I can finally visualise the town my nan and grandad came to, where my mum and family have grown up, and what the town I was born into looked like in the past. Incredible work. Thank you all
Absolutely amazing. Many thanks to all those involved in bringing this to us. My husband was raised on Princes Road 1950-1970 and was thrilled to see this. His grandfather was born at #2 Porters Row. The Beatles appearance at Civic Hall brought out the story (again) of how he ended up chatting with them in the dressing rooms above/behind the stage.
It's crazy seeing how much the place I've lived in for all my nearly 18 years of living changed before I was even born. There's this odd sense of familiarity when I start seeing parts of the town I recognise that's been here for years.
I found this fascinating! I have never been to the area, but something about the story, the graphics and the narration are very compelling. I had to watch it twice with many pauses for a look around. Thank you for the great video!
Very good slide show with some lovely pictures but it should have been slower to enable viewers to actually read the comments and see the photos. Each clip should have been at least double the time if not a little more. Good anyway. 👍
@@PGtips2016 Yeah, I can understand that issue.. We can't get software like we used to on a disc and load it into your computer yourself, it's all this bloody apps stuff. I've still got my old Sony Vegas Movie maker and my old Sony Viao running Windows 8, old gear now but still doing the job. I did like your video and I notice that there's a few people posting Ellesmere Port vids up on RU-vid . 👍
Loved this! Brought back so many of the good memories I have of the port. Born there in 1968 but live in the US now. Will always have so many happy memories of this place. Well done!😊
Brilliant video very informative If you go to rivica valley on a wet day and stand where the baths were you can still smell the chloride used in the water
We as school kids had to go to the rivacre baths for swimming lessons, it was always freezing cold, one day it was 5 c but we still had to get in, the teacher was a Major Hunt, no guess for what he was called! on other days when finished and shaking like leaves we would get a bovril from the machine and burn our hands from shaking so much. A brilliant production and very well done to all concerned. I was born in the 'Port in July 1954 on Pooltown Rd. and lived in the area including Great Sutton until emigrating to France in 2005. Lots of happy memories of living & working in the 'Port. Many thanks to all for your hard work. I went to Pooltown Junior School and we went to Rivacre Baths for swimming lessons. The water was always so damn cold that, by the time I got in, everyone else was getting out. I still can't swim! Cheers!
I am from Liverpool but really enjoyed that. I used to visit Riveacre baths as a kid. I hope Ellesmere Port does well in the future. Out of interest, will the film makers be doing similar animations for other towns and cities?
Thank you very much... dextra visual have made other animations of various towns. If you click on the link that I've added to our film here it will take you to his RU-vid account.
Beautifully produced animation of the place I was born in and still live. However, it was saddening to see how many houses and places of historical interest, have been needlessly demolished to make way for expansion and so-called urban improvements. The demolition of The Boat House Tavern, in particular, was to my mind nothing less than an act of vandalism, by town planners, who clearly could not have cared less, about Elleereere Port's history and heritage. Quite shameful when you think about it!
My Dad was a lorry driver and worked out of the “Cawoods” container base in the eighties and I was always in there with him, always loved the docks in the Port and it always makes me feel nostalgic going past on the M53
I am proud to say that I am from Ellesmere Port and have seen many of these changes. I went to Our Lady 's school, I remember many a Saturday at the Queen's picture house. Later, I worked as a window dresser for Tolls, then the Co-op. Lovely to see the town's history. Thank you!😢
@@islandofsecrets6310 Remember me and my schoolfriends finding money under the pavement grids on Whitby road, used to do quite well.We always replaced the grids safely of course lol.
Great video of what could have been! It’s disgusting what has been lost over the years through modernisation. As with most towns falling into neglect the port deserves money pumping into it in an attempt to kick start life into the town
I think lessons should be taught on children's home towns, maybe our youth would have more love to show for their surroundings. It could be great again, we need some good people to lead the change. I'd be more than happy to help. Much gratitude to all involved in the making of this, wonderful work 👏👏👏
Amazing documentary the level of detail is incredible. This should be shown on regional TV such as itv1 granada, BBC ONE North West HD or Local TV Liverpool.
fantastic video...i left 18years ago to New Zealand but this has made me really home sick...... always loved my home town but this really brings it home...thank you!
