Hi, can you please explain, how we can do the upgrade, if I save the .bin file in a folder in flash please? Actually our client has already upgraded the IOS from a folder in flash, and I need to upgrade it further , copying the IOS into the same folder in the flash. Would it be possible to do it from the same folder that is in the flash? Do I copy the new IOS into this folder and then carry on?Appreciate it if you can guide me. Thank you.
@@Advance_Technology_by_Rana Hi Rana, thank you. Where I save my IOS files are in a directory called "Image" in the flash. There is already one IOS existing and in this folder and in use by the switch. Can I still save my new IOS in to this folder called "Image" and carryon as normal please? What happens is , the switch still takes the old IOS, packages.conf file and boots from the old IOS. Will adding the #install add file flash:Image/cat9k_iosxe.16.12.08.SPA.bin resolve the issue?
@@ITnetwork5 there is no rollback of firmware in catalyst switches. Rollback only available in Nexus Family. Yes, there is a way to go back to previous version. @@chimwando1 yes it will not effect the running configuration however strongly recommended to take backup of you running configuration. Another thing while doing the upgrade process your switch operations will be suspended because it requires reboot and update the NVRAM.

followed the exact procedure, on the end I still have the same software version 9200 24P 17.03.05 boot: attempting to boot from [flash:packages.conf] boot: reading file packages.conf
"No boot manual" to tell the switch to boot automatically. However, this command is optional, and you can skip it. I hope I have cleared up your doubt. 😎👍😎
Hello. I would appreciate your help because I have serious problems updating the firmware of a CISCO c1111x-8p / ISR 1100 series router. It happens that I carry out the steps but when I update the firmware, strangely, two users that I have created with their respective privileges and passwords are deleted and when I create them again, the update that I made to the firmware is deleted. @@Advance_Technology_by_Rana I used "ip ftp vrf management" command and it worked to use the management vrf instead of the default vrf. The download takes about a minute, the install of the OS takes about 30 minutes.
hello sir thank you for helpful video... i want to ugprade 4221 isr for client with minimal network impact. is it possible to upgrade both software and rommon in single reboot?
@@Advance_Technology_by_Rana thank you for your reply kind sir. what i meant was, is it possible to upgrade rommon first, then straight after that upgrade software without a reboot inbetween?(single reboot after both processes). i believe in your video, you reboot the router twice(once after each process). please correct me if i may be wrong sir.
@@char680 dear for router 4331 series and some others. It’s 2 step process to upgrade the IOS. First rommon and IOS, so it is 2 time reboot.
