There are many kinds of acorns and most will require leaching of the tannins before being able to eat or make flour. I have not figured out how to do this easily nor how to quickly open enough acorns to get the nut out of their shell. It would be interesting to see how you would do these steps with western acorns.
I'm sorry, I about died when she mentioned hanging the mesh bag in a closet. I just imagined putting them in with your clothes or linens, and having them smell like garlic forever. I know that's not what she meant.
Hi from southern New Zealand 👋 im a beekeeper who specializes in wax production ( most beekeepers produce wax as a byproduct of honey processing) and was very impressed with your tutorial about rendering beeswax. A little suggestion to simplify your process, If you pour the molten beeswax carefully through a fine mesh such as a paint filter set into a large plastic bucket, or cheesecloth or even a old cotton t-shirt loosely streched over a large bucket, it will remove most of the impurities from your wax(beekeeper's call it "slum-gum"). Keeping the pot or bucket covered will prevent the block cracking as it cools. Great video 👍👋
In our household bleach is a no-no. For washing I use washing sheets sold in a small carton while pretreat greasy collars and other grease stains with - like you mentioned - dish soap. For whitening my bedlinen and towels I use sodium percarbonate or sesqui percarbonate. These powders, when dissolved, change in washing soda and hydrogen peroxide, so no worries there. They both whiten perfectly. House hold vinegar in the softner compartment to get rid of sweat smell, and sunshine to dry. Here in France those nuts aren‘t really cheap, but those other products are quite well available (also great to wash a disgusting floor easily). Thank you for your ever interesting content.
Hi Nicole! I loved your video on sustainable laundry routines! It was super interesting to hear about your experience with soap nuts-they sound like a game changer, especially for tough workout clothes. I’m curious, have you tried any specific methods for stain removal that work well with them? Thanks for sharing such practical tips!
Clothesline is the best way to go and the clothes smell so much fresher and they're a little rough especially your bath towels but rough bathhouses good for exfoliation
You made me laugh I'm not laughing at you but you made me laugh when you said I can't put the bag in the water and then come back and put the clothes in cuz I get distracted I don't have to or I do but they're on their own and I can distract without kids lol thanks for the morning chuckle
I heard b4 olive oil method was false , so I'm unsure now I have also seen people prepare whatever food in Mason jars and pop few pcs garlic on top of it say few pcs on beef for ex or carrots for ex so now nor sure about this , did a few pcs garlic which will obviously be on the top ruin entire jar? When u hear 2 opposites hard to know
oh my gosh, the first garden was big enough!!!! what a huge project, but it's a work of love, isn't it?????!!! your son was waving in the background!!!
Very interesting info! I'm in southern CA, I have an organic herb garden, I also raise red worms. I consider my herbs my medicine 🙂 I also have Orange, Fig and a HUGE Avocado tree. I get plenty of Avo's over one pound, the biggest so far has been 1 pound 6 ounces! YUMMY! I eat the weed Purslane everyday during the summer, and dry some out for my tea in the winter. Most people pull it and throw it away, I have several pots of it growing. I enjoyed the video, you have a nice piece of property!! 🙂
Very similar results here in Missouri. Deer have been my worst issue this year. We had some extreme heat and no rain the last couple of weeks, so things were stressed, but it has cooled off a bit now. Your advice is good. Do a bit each day. It’s amazing how much better things go, plus you keep an eye on pests and disease that way. I’m very interested in the results of your copper pipe experiment!
I've had a garden since I was 13 I'm 65 now well at least wherever I live that had soil instead of concrete and I got to say you're video channel here is very informative I enjoy listening to you and learning what you have to say thank you for your time
🤔 natural beeswax should only smell of honey unless it's contaminated with something. Water rendering like the method shown in this video should resolve your problem
