My desperate attempt to make sense of this: The police are trying to arrest the magician "Little Nick", so they tried to frame him for the death of his apprentice, Rita, by assassinating's a local clown, sabotaging her parents car, swap Rita with the clown, and using Larry as a fall guy and arrested him for drunk driving, meanwhile the police blackmail the magician by threatening to have Rita killed if he doesn't turn himself in. Unfortunately, they killed the wrong clown, allowing the supposed victim "Honky Honkers" to testify to court and set in motion the events that would unravel the conspiracy.
I'VE CREATED THE PLOT!! A famous magician, “little” Nick has been pursued by the police for decades, with them unable to pin any specific crimes on him. Eventually, they stage the murder of his apprentice, a little girl who is the daughter of Butz to get him on a crime. This murder involved this apprentice to get hit by a sabotaged car in a way that was unmistakably the work of magician Nick. However, not truely understanding the girl’s work after reading a letter to her master, they dressed her up in such a way that she resembled a famous clown in the area. However, what wasn’t accounted for is that the clown, Butz, and his spouse were all in the area at the time, causing them all to be implicated in the scene. Meanwhile, the police contacted Nick about holding his apprentice captive, offering his arrest as ransom for her life. Miles Edgeworth, having a personal connection to the alleged victim, quickly realized the plot and, in the process of trying to clear Nick’s and his apprentice’s name, accidentally implicated Butz and himself in the crime.
This is beyond the shadow of a doubt Edgeworth’s fever dream, and the straight man he plays is hilarious to the rest of the hilarity everyone else does
After an hour of deciphering this trial, I finally figured out this case. Assuming the final testimony is true, It appears that Daphene, Larry's step-daughter, is actually secretly the mysterious clown "Honkie Honkers", who was missing for some time. She/He was the apprentice of the famous magician "Little" Nick, a known criminal evading the law for decades. The police, in an attempt to catch "Little" Nick, has set up a trap where they'll set up a fake murder on the victim, "Honkie Honkers" -- Daphene. First, for some time, they kept Daphene hostage. They blackmailed "Little" Nick about the hostage, and urged him to give up his act. Since only Nick knew of the "Honkie Honkers"' true identity -- which was meant to be a secret -- he could not tell anyone about the truth. Then, at the right time, they set up a fake car crash, and claimed "Honkie Honkers" died in this crash. Then they blamed the murder on Larry. This would make Nick more uneasy seeing his assistant suffering at the hands of the police. Having a pure heart, this worked effectively for the police. He decided to reveal himself at the trial of Larry, and the truth behind it all. In this scenario, it appears CHenry (White) was merely posing as the "victim". As this is normally impossible, a likely scenario is that he was pretending to be the victim channeled by a spirit medium. An important fact is that his parents were cops, who is likely to have been an insider for this kidnapping and fake murder. However, it seems they had not known everything, especially the fact that the whole premise of this kidnapping is that the identity of "Honkie Honkers" is not known. They told White to pose as the victim channeled by a spirit medium, in order to testify that his step-father Larry has actually killed her. Which in hindsight would make no sense in court, as this fact was hidden by then. Now, it should be said that Larry has dementia. This explains why could not remember his birth, and that Daphene was his step-daughter. The only puzzling part, then, is how Daphene was also proved to be his fiancee. I can think of several explanations. Let's just say that it was a complete coincidence, and the two Daphenes are different, since Larry has dementia and probably can't remember their names. Other important stuff to note: Ema is also Larry's step-daughter for some reason This summarizes the events behind this turnabout. 10/10
(somewhat minor spoiler alert for game 3 case 1)Funniest part is, shes the only female "companion" of larrys we actually get to meet (not counting maya or mia), since she's larrys superior
Anyone gonna talk about how Larry just blamed Edgeworth, called Edgeworth to the stand, had him interrogated, and Edgeworth still had to prosecute the case as if nothing happened? *Beautiful storytelling 10/10 would watch again*
Edgeworth really broke enough automated 4th walls to ask phoenix wright why he was trying to disprove his own theory about daphne driving to the studio.
I was actually able to barely piece together an actual story from this up until Daphne was revealed to be the victim and the magician and Larry Butz fiancé it was too much.
0:32 I think he just used an actual tactic that's used by investigators. They ask you chill questions, like "What did you have for dinner?" Or "What time did you go to sleep last night?" And then out of nowhere hit you with "DID YOU KILL HIM??" which totally throws the accused off-guard.
