What's up y'all

I am a former competitive wushu athlete, wushu historian, (wushu) Wikipedian, and amateur RU-vidr. I aim to document the history of competitive wushu and to promote the sport. As a Wikipedian, I have made over 5,000 edits and published over 150 articles with a majority of them related to wushu. Six of my articles have appeared on the front page's "Did-You-Know?" section. On RU-vid, I republish or recompile videos of notable athletes in competition as well as on competition history and statistics.

All original media owners and research citations are credited in my video descriptions. All other creative content is originally created by me and is displayed with a watermark.

I am not associated with any wushu organization or school. I run this channel in my spare time as a hobby and am not a media professional. I only claim to own this account, my Wikipedia account, and my Wix website (uswushuteam.com). All other accounts are impostors/unrelated.

The Yuan family resemblance is so obvious! He’s always looked to me like a not-quite-as-polished version Wenqing. But they definitely share similar body movements (as in how they move, not just their Choreo) Great that he finally won gold in CQ too. Years spent in the shadow of Wenqing and Haibo

That was great, love the choreography. Do you have anything of Xu Dingyuan, he was the double handed straight sword champion around the same time, but his Daoshu is tremendous too. He was also Beijing Team member, thanks.

@Yinglong999 do you have all of the male changquan athletes at this competition? Specifically do you have mine!!!??? 🙏🏻

Hi Steve, the videos I'm uploading right now are from an archived version of Wushu Central, and unfortunately I cannot find videos of any of your performances on that site. I see though that on your channel you have a video (originally from wushuonefamily) of yourself doing CQ at the competition. If you would like for me to upload or send you a version of it that is AI upscaled, color graded, and has beginning and ending subtitles just let me know.

I used to have this on VHS tape. In his changquan form, Javonne's first run was a jump front kick to butterfly twist to jump inside horse stance.

Performed with the proper old school flavor! Juniors who compete with this form now are too stiff and emphasize certain movements awkwardly.
@yinglong999
@yinglong999 23 дня назад
Yes I completely agree. I really like authentic informed interpretations of old school forms, they are much more exciting to watch and they flow better in general. There is a lot of "risk taking" involved as well which modern competitions sacrificed for the mindset of making as few mistakes as possible.

Oof that’s some good pudao! And the size of that blade! Wish this would come back to being a WWC event 😢
@yinglong999
@yinglong999 25 дней назад
I’m not sure if this was an official event cause it isn’t listed in the IWUF results document. Perhaps this was a demonstration event. Interestingly, sanda (sanshou) was actually a demonstration event at the 1st WWC as well, nevertheless medals were counted and it became an official IWUF event after this competition. There was also a traditional hand form demonstration event as well to my knowledge.

@yinglong999
@yinglong999 28 дней назад
@@a.peng13 This was the first Olympic promo the IWUF did in hopes that wushu would be an official event at the 2008 Games. It ended up not being included, nevertheless the IOC allowed the creation of the Beijing Wushu Tournament to take place alongside the games. There was a rule that no major sports competition can be in the same city in the same timeframe of the Olympics, but the BWT was an exception.

Nevertheless in my opinion the forms and combos in 2001 are way cooler and flow more than the ones after the 2022 revision in China. I have a bunch of 2001 videos in my channel and hopefully I’ll get around to upload more, you can check them out and then compare them to Chinese nationals in 2023 with scoring over 10.0
