Hey that’s awesome to know. 👍😁. As I understand it, your boat was the first Swanson 30 built. I would love to see a photo of your boat, if possible and where your located. We just won the combined clubs mid week race series on the Derwent river with Mulberry. Merinda is apparently also down here in Tassie, at Cygnet and these days her hull is painted white. Are you on the Swanson owners group on Facebook.

As noted in the video, as things have worked out, Mulberry is now mine in conjunction with a friend/crew member. So, let the upgrades commence. The woodwork is once again all finished. I am now working on sorting out the water tank and area where it is located, clean and repaint. including the bilge. Much more to do which I will try to document.

A sad postscript to this video. Back in mid December 2022, my bike was stolen from my home by some total arseholes. 3 days later, the police contacted me to let me know they had found it. Well what was left of it. So basically, my low km immaculate Monster was stripped by the thieves and all that was left was the frame, swing arm, engine, fuel tank, front fairing and mudguards. And even these parts were damaged. So alas, the bike is no more. To say this experience hurt would be an understatement. So what to do, I still am waiting for my insurance to do the right thing and therefter will decide. So the options re getting another such bike are somewhat slim as Monster 620s are relatively thin on the ground here. One other possibility could be a 695 Monster. I will see what might be possible.

I ride on monster 695 2007.and own it for 2 years. I want to say about that 200 kmh+ it’s not about this motorcycle. It’s about Style, ducati’s engine sound, look of monsters before 2008 year it’s comparative of front old classic style with sport’s back. Again - sounds very cool) especially on my MIVV exhaust from 620’s that i bought and installed. Now it’s really monster)) i like italic theme of all ducati bikes. I love my Monster and i want to be he’s owner for very long time. It’s like little old style Ferrari 😄🥹😍

Hi Pasha, I agree with all you say. While the Monster may be the entry into Ducati ownership that takes nothing away from how special they are and the feeling you get when you ride one. Some 3 years on from when I bought mine and made this pretty crappy video, all I can say is I still get a huge smile every time I ride it. Sure there are faster bikes, more special Ducatis, MVs, Laverdas etc but hey once you have a Duc you are part of the family. I agree, owning such a bike is akin to owning a Ferrari, Maserati or Lamborghini. Good on you and may you get to enjoy many terrific rides on your Ducati. 👍

I had a Monster 620ie briefly, until I got myself in so much trouble that I’m still paying for it half a decade later lol… Anyway, absolutely love that bike. Mine was black, but yours in Ducati red looks so much better. This is everything an urban motorcycle should be. Fantastic machine. Very fun and easy to work on yourself. Enjoy it for me please!

I would love to ask something.. now that you are owner for a longer time. Did you have any functional problem with this bike? Is it really that hard to maintain? I would like to know abou it more. Thanks ❤️
@1240enzo
@1240enzo 3 года назад
Hi mate, sure thing. Now that I have owned and ridden the bike for the past two years I have a reasonable handle on it, then when I posted this basic review. First off, I still love the bike very much and wouldn’t change it for pretty much any other bike I can think of. That’s not to say it’s perfect and/or I wouldn’t like another bike sometime. If funds permitted, which they don’t, I would love either/both in that dream garage a Ducati Sport Classic 1000 biposto, and a bevel driven Ducati from the 1970s. Ok, so the good re the Monster, it’s been incredibly reliable and hence very affordable to maintain. Literally, all I have had to was give it a full service and had the belts changed when I bought it. The only other thing I have had done was at one stage it was idling a little too fast, this was sorted out by my bike mechanics, a leaking hose replaced and new spark plug fixed that. It’s coming up for a service in the near future but the cost for that, probably $250 or so. The bike fell over once when I was visiting a friend and so I had to replace the front brake handle, I recall that was about $70. And that’s about it so far. She starts first time every time, the brakes are fine and it has more than enough power for my needs. It’s comfortable to ride given it has a handle bar rather than clipons which you get with all sport bikes. Given it’s a Ducati, has a L Twin Desmodronic valve system and with the Termi exhaust cans it is quite loud _ but it’s a nice sound say as opposed to those v twin bikes from the US. The sound is fine around the city but on a long ride/ on motorways by using earplugs that deals with that minor issue. Est earplugs that I know of and do work are ones from Happy Ears. $20 cost, and worthwhile getting. The bike doesn’t really enjoy running really slowly in 1st/2nd gear in traffic, I am not sure if this might be a minor tuning issue or just the nature of the bike. It is a Ducati after all. I will check with the mechanics re this when I get it next serviced. What else, it would be nice if the bike had a fuel gauge but they didn’t come with this, so all I do is zero the trip meter when I full up, typical distance you get on one tank is around 200Kms. From memory including the reserve, the tank holds around 14L or so. The only other thing I have done once so far is to clean the chain and retention it, but you have to do this on any bike. It’s a straightforward job plus keep the lube up on the chain. For the typical asking price around $4-6k Aussie I reckon it’s a bargain. My advice is get the best one you can, with service history and low kms. Mine had low kms and was in really nice condition when I bought it. It remains as such. The other thing to do is check out Ducati NYC. Vasili 620ie now has 55,000 miles on the clock and is still going great. Of course by this stage he has had to do more work on his bike in keeping it going well than I have. Hope that helps a bit. Cheers Dave

@@1240enzo Man I couldn´t be more satisfied with the answer. Glad to hear, that you´re still happy with the bike and still owning it. It´s nice to hear, that the maintanance is pretty much similar to any other bike. Wish you many more safe kilometers on the Monster without accident. About the riding on 1st and 2nd gear.. I would say, that you don´t have to be worried, because as I searched on the internet before, many owners were consultating this "issue". I would say that it´s probably some of the typical feature of Ducati Monster (or Ducati overall? :D). But you can have it checked even though if there is the opportunity to. You´ll have it confirmed. For the fuel tank I believe I would miss the fuel gauge on the board too, but i would say, that it´s something I could get over with. 14 liter fuel tank is maybe kinda small for this bike (I´ve got 125cc with 14l f. tank, which can make up to 500kms on one that tank size :D.. but its the "tax" for the smaller engine and power). The ear plugs are essential on the longer roadtrips. I can imagine it.. But I would say, that it´s absolutely worth it for the lovely Termiginoni exhaust :D. Ducati NYC is yet one of my biggest information sources about the Ducati Monster xd. I love his passion for this bike. I got to know the bike more and learned a few things about it through the videos. It´s pretty sad, that he had some issues with the starting up the bike, but I believe he can fix it and give it a go for a bit more. The bike serves him pretty well. Thanks for all new informations! I´ll start searching for some good one and hopefully get it for myself soon. And for you.. I believe, you´ll have those dream bikes in your garage one day :D. They will find their way to you. Have a nice day. Martin

Cheers Martin, yes that is my experience, the Monster is no worse than any other bike really re maintenance needs and costs. Good to know your aware of Ducati NYC. His bike was an inspiration to me to get mine. Sure he has had some problems with it and more so recently but on the other hand it has high mileage now and he sure has taken it on quite a lot of very long trips. Princess is his baby and even when he gets another Ducati he is keeping his Monster. I am glad. They are special bikes. I am always getting compliments on mine by other riders. Yes I suspect your right re 1st/2nd gear at low speeds and likewise I wish it had a fuel gauge and held more fuel. But it’s ok, you get used to judging when to refill. All the best in finding the Monster your after, they are out there. Over on Instagram there is a pretty decent #ducatimonster620 photo site. Laura Nima posts many photos of herself with her black 620. It’s a cool bike. Cheers Dave

Hi Taras, I too am the same height as you and yes it’s completely comfortable for me to ride the Monster. Thankyou for the kind words, indeed Massimo (my Monster 620ie) is a good looking bike and such fun to ride. The good thing also is that from my experience they are not expensive to buy and/or maintain, well so far. My Monster is a 2006 model with only 21,500 kms on the clock. It’s been well looked after by previous owners and I too am doing my best to keep it in great condition. Richmond, in Tasmania is a lovely old Georgian village. It was a good ride out to it. All the best to you in Ukraine and good luck to you in finding a Monster. If you havn’t already check out Ducati NYC. Ahm, what I was saying which regrettably you can't hear due to me dubbing the music onto the video is that as it was a nice brisk morning, 8oC and a lovely day, that it was time to take the Monster for a ride. The government having advised that riding a motorbike not only is acceptable during this Corona virus time, but that it is considered exercise and good for one's mental well being. Hence, the perfect time to ride the bike today, first off for some essential supplies (cat food etc for the boys) plus thereafter a longer ride. The renovations can wait until over Easter, given the weather is supposed to be ordinary (rain).

When we left Dunally, the original plan was only to sail up towards Maria Island or perhaps Schoeten Island/Passage or at most up towards Wine Glass Bay. But in reviewing the weather information, winds, sea conditions etc and looking forwards, Lew decided that the best plan was to continue, overnight all the way up to Trousers Point/Bay at Flinders. This of course meant we would have to do watches (2hrs), to ensure that we didn't run into anything out there. As the sea and wind conditions were pretty ordinary, basically once past Maria Island we motored the whole way to Flinders, and I must admit not having to go on deck at night, under the conditions was pretty nice. One of the real benefits of a pilot house boat. We "sailed" with the autopilot rather than hand steering and what with radar and the AIS on, in truth, when on watch it was rather a matter of keeping an eye on the instruments etc.

Day 1 of the journey to the Bass straight islands at Easter 2016, onboard a 38 ft Nauticat Pilot house ketch, skippered by Dr Lew Garnham, with crew member Dr Chris Lloyd. This was my first long passage on a boat, first blue water experience and first time to the Islands up in Bass Straight. On day 1 we had a relatively short sail from Hobart, via the Iron Pot/entrance to the Derwent River, across Storm Bay and down to Dunally, in preparation for the Day 2 early start in going through the Dunally Canal and then up the East Coast. Little did I realise at the time what Day 2 would entail. All of the videos from this trip were filmed simply using my Iphone 4S.

The reason for uploading this video, is that Airbnb has the belief that the verification system it requires people to comply with will protect someone though who exactly, themselves, I can't see how this would work, or perhaps the person providing accomodation, but it doesn't actually do that, for the only requirement is payment in the first place and this is met as one's credit card payment is completed prior to actually staying in someone's airbnb room. It won't provide protection from an unscrupulous guest and in anycase, if someone were to not meet the owners requirements I would assume they could always be asked to leave or pay for any damage. So perhaps it is meant to protect the consumer, nope it won't actually do this either. So really, all it is, is an invasion of your privacy. My best advice hence is don't bother using Airbnb unless you are happy to meet their very silly requirements. Maybe they will also want to see your bank account statements to see you can afford to stay, your birth certificate to see you were actually born and havn't died yet. Perhaps a copy of your Resume to see you have a job or at least did have. What next. As I say, get real Airbnb your verification system is a stupid stupid system and protects nobody, not that it is actually needed in the first place.
