Hi , welcome to my channel , I will in time have a collection of videos and tutorials for the yarn crafts that I do and also some reviews of yarn and notions to help you with deciding if the item is what you are looking for , please enjoy my content and thanks for watching . If you like what you see and like to support me you can do that with Ko-fi. ko-fi.com/yarnzombie
not sure if it's an American thing but I've never seen a yarn where they indicate the starting yarn! That's amazing lol. Thank you for the tips, I have a few variegated skeins I've been drying to use
It's always good to see a video containing some yarns that are familiar to us who are from Australia, and I was excited to see the Portacraft yarn! I was able to get some of their range from Browse In And Save as well as Ned's, as I live in SA. I was curious what your thoughts were on the Marvel 12 ply yarn, as you didn't really talk about that much. I just recently purchased some for the first time, as while I don't think it equates at all to a standard 12 ply I'm hoping at least it might work up more like a 10 ply, so that I can use it with the Spotsaver yarn, especially since that doesn't have any brown from that range. Would like to hear your thoughts please. Thanks 😊
@@alwayslearning9272 I agree with the view of the Marvel 12 ply , it's thinner than other 12 plys , it does go well with Spotsaver - the Spotsaver is rougher in some colours than others and the 12 ply marvel is softer.
That's good to know, thank you for replying so quickly! I really like the bear colour and agree that the 12 ply seems quite soft as well. I also got sand I think and a pale green/sage type one. So glad to hear that they should go well with the 10 ply, I hadn't found any of those to not be soft or to be rough. I've mostly just got pumpkin, wine and the two grey options, really love the look of the silver colour, much nicer than how it looks online, and goes well with the granny square yarn too! Between all mixing and matching I think I have it all covered! 😉🙂
I'm relatively new to crochet and very excited about it so i watch a lot of crochet videos. I often see people talk about good yarns but can never easily buy any of them, so i clicked on this as soon as i saw the spotlight yarn in the thumbnail. I agree with the semco stallion being very splitty, I thought I was hopeless when I started learning with it
@@umey3445 yes I agree, Semco I feel is better for knitting than crochet, your handling the yarn less, it can be hard when your learning and the yarns not being helpful.
I was thinking of doing one about how to spot yarns that would likely planned pool , there is alot out there that aren't specifically for pooling that do work . Sound like a good idea?
@@lindadunham286 I'm sorry, I have noticed the fake cards work mostly as an individual pattern just not together, if that helps. Will be putting a photo in the community tab of mine.
Hey amazing zombie! 😊. I enjoy the thrift/opp shop, or yard/garage sale video's so much! I don't know why you don't have more subs & views!? 🤔 Maybe next time take us shopping with you to the stores/sales to show us what you find whether or not you buy or not. These are my most favorite type of videos! I watch Mel's Yarniverse quite a bit as well and she is also in Australia and takes us to them with her and then talks about them just like you are doing at the end. I want so badly for others to find your fun & quirky channel! You made some amazing finds! The Ice yarn alone was making me drool 🤤! Thanks again! Lets get you some subs! ❤️
NOTICE - We are aware now that the crochet deck shown in this video is a counterfeit one ,we are making a followup video explaining what happened and how to avoid being duped by fakers.
Hi! I stumbled onto your video after watching another RU-vidr also reviewing the Granny Square Card deck. I encourage you to view the video by Tami Crafty Mompreneur. She was fooled into buying a counterfeit one. As I watched your video it seemed that you might have also bought the fake one. I always hate to be the one to give anyone bad news cause your video was really good and I enjoyed the content ❤. Please don't take this as a negative at all, this is not your fault in any way shape or form. I know I have done a similar things in the past not knowing till it was too late. And with all the stealing going on in this world, sadly its easy to be deceived. 😢 Check out her review and see if you think you got the counterfeit one or not. Thanks again for your video it was great! 💖
@@LeoandTaurusCreations thank you for the information and the compliments , I might do some more research and a follow-up video. I have since got further with my project and things aren't quite as they should be, thanks for the heads up.
Hi, Could you tell me how long the head is and the diameter on the biggest part. I’m using 4 ply yarn and will have to adjust the size a bit, it’s way too small at the moment.
@@debsaussievids4441 from the tip of his nose to the middle of the back of his head is 15 cms - remember it's stuffed acrylic yarn so it has a bit of stretch , the measurement for the widest part - under chin and over top behind the eyes is 27 cms. And the eyes I used were 1.8 mm diameter approx.
@@YarnZombiee Thank you for measuring for me. That will give me a better idea on the size it’s meant to be. I nearly finished it and realised it was going to be too small. I can get back to it now!
thanks for this, I know people frown on us buying off shein or aliexpress but some of us like myself from a small island country we dont have yarn shops. And buying yarn online is a pain especially from those 2 sites because they dont explain the guage or yardage and recommended knit and crochet needle sizes properly, so this has been super helpful <3
@@BasedBi you are very welcome, I find a similar thing here , admittedly we probably have a bit more of a choice but nowhere near as much as other places and the budget only stretches so far.
@@debsaussievids4441 the plastic canvas under the head/ chest piece was cut to fit the space, so didn't really measure it. You most likely will have to adjust the chain according to your tension. The part I can measure is 11.5 cm x 12.5 cms approximately - remember you will need to round the corners to get it to fit neatly and add the felt for underneath. Hope that all makes sense?
Thankyou. This was very helpful. Just found the problem with the divide for armholes step. I'm glad to know it's not just me reading the pattern wrong😅.
I think you did such a wonderful job of explaining and demonstrating how to do that row. The first time I made one of those squares I cried because I just couldn’t figure out that row. I read and re-read the pattern so many times and looked to see if anyone had a video. I only came across other people’s pictures of their finished work. So, I zoomed in on some photos and at some point it just clicked! It took a little bit to get the hang of it because the corners can be so tricky and a bit awkward if you’re not used to doing that type of stitch; but now I’ve made over 20 of those squares and made a blanket out of them! It’s such a lovely pattern that Kirsten has made and I want to thank you for putting this video together for others who may struggle a bit with that row.
I've been eagerly waiting for the final reveal. He turned really well 👌 love the collar too. I've just finished the pockets and ready to sew on. Not favourite part of crocheting!
@@crochetnaturaldesign I am sorry , I was using the pattern as it came out in the magazine. The designer has a facebook group as well that might be able to help you out , as this was not my own design I can't really offer anything else
The joining of the dog chest turned out really well. I really like the dog head too. I need to get back to mine soon. I’m busy making my daughters birthday present at the moment. I’m crocheting her a box of vegetables out of leftover yarn! 🥕🌶🥔🫑🧄🧅
@@YarnZombieeI think I might have done something wrong been trying to figure it out I think my stitches just aren't tight enough( shrug) I still love this bag, I found you last week on here and I love all of your videos.
If you want go to my Facebook page and share a photo of the bag , either there or in a message we can try and workout where you made a design twist , I don't mind helping if I can
Not sure what you are asking , could you please explain? --- I think i got it google translate has said that you are looking for the PDF pattern ? As you see im creating it as i go so at the moment there is no pattern. But i do have other patterns on my Ko-fi page. ko-fi.com/yarnzombie
There are acrylic gradient yarns and for most the hook size is 3.5 mm to 4.00 mm similar to what you use for 8 ply or double knit yarns - 4 weight I think the equivalent is
So glad I found this video! I had given up on row 21 and ripped out row 20 and 19 and made it a pot holder to put my hot pots on and protect the table. Works well!; and looks nice hanging on the wall. Actually working on another one in a different color because I’m changing up my kitchen! 😂
It's called Mayflower Party and the band says Farve 812 Parti 01 - I'm guessing that is batch and colour number. Manufactured for Mayflower, Denmark. But remember I made that video a few years ago and I got this yarn in a lucky bag when I first ordered from Hobbii in Sweden ,good luck in your search , if you like I can put up photos of the label on a post on the community tab?
Do you enjoy your tulip hooks? Would you pay full price for them again if you had to? I’ve been getting cheap hooks since I started to crochet, I recently got a cheap version of the tulip hooks but the metal keeps stabbing through the silicone sleeves at the end and making holes. I’d love to hear your thoughts on your tulip set, or if there’s any other ones you’d recommend.
sorry for the late reply this only just came up , I love the Clover Tulip range , they are on the more expensive side so I am slowly getting one at a time as I can afford them the next best would be the /clover Amour range - they are cheaper but just as nice to use the difference between them for me is the handles the hooks are both excellent
