Kalki is a visual treat but in my honest opinion the makers butchered the Indian history. Not only did they mess around with the Mahabharat part but it looks like took inspiration from Kalki puran written by lefties. Overall - CGI 10/10 , Content 5/10
U guys are spot on for both Kalki and Manjummal boys. Both did take long time to get going in the name of world building. I thought they could have trimmed 20 mins easily. But 2nd half was a banger
he said sumati correct while speaking Sum-80 and butchered actual pronunciation for sumati. idk why it is hard for anyone to learn vowels of any differing languages, they are 90% always same.
Basically prabhas character was taken over by another personality (Indians would call this the spirit of his earlier incarnation). That personality did not share his motivations or desires. When he dropped the spear, that personality disappeared which is why he appeared to revert to his earlier motivations. In reality, the character Bhairava was consistently portrayed throughout the scene.
Fyi.. Makers already announced we will part 2 soon. With next 2 yrs. They have completed more than 50℅ shooting now vfx and other some modifications is needed. We wont have to wait for much longer
Listened to your whole podcast on Kalki, glad to see you guys excited for it. I would like to recommend both of you to watch 'Brahmastra : Part 1 Shiva', it's also inspired/based on hindu mythology (not direct fictional sequal like Kalki),but very ambitious & also sets up a cinematic universe on Ancient God's Weapons.Lore of the story has a lot of potential to be Big & Better, I'm excited for this franchise & would love to hear your discussion about this movie. You guys can also react to the trailer before reviewing : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V5jVntRVl-0.html

I had the same thoughts of a complete experience..and wondered if they would be dragging the story further making it clumsy in the next parts ...but I have faith in nag Ashwin..he won't disappoint
Prabhas is a reincarnation of Karna who was Ashwathamas friend in his precious life. Who has saved him several times. 🤔. He remembered "that life" when he picked up the spear which belonged to karna earlier. when his robot called him by his current name he forgot again. He was fully aware of who he was only for a couple of minutes when he kills that villian.
Brother you are do not even aware of the Indian cultures and things but today's Indian audience the Genesis they didn't even understood the reference that Prabhas character is karna he is also one of the most important characters in Mahabharata and he is spoilers alert he is the brother of Pandavas but he fought for the Kauravas and he was the son of the Sun god that's why his name is karna an Indian audiences will the older generation they understood but the younger generation they didn't get the context why Prabhas character became karna
Kalki avatar is just like Return of Jesus. This story is inspired by Kalki Puran and Mahabharat link it have as Ashwatthama, Karna and Krishna last avatar is Kalki will come at end of the world to destory Evil kali (supreme Yaksin) and establish dharma in world.
Please for the love of God don't compare kalki avatar to Jesus. Kalki Avatar doesn't convert people by bribing rice bags unlike Jesus and his followers.
Bro did you believe still, this will happen in future. Around the World since decades years ago till now bad is happening everywhere. But nothing magic happens.
It has been written in scriptures of Kalki coming and how he comes, before any Abrahamic faiths were born. Whatever they say, it is by showcasing our scriptures by twisting a little to look as if it their own
Bad things in this movie it is written 6000years ago may be more then that in bhavshya vani means prophecy that is going to happen . And Kalki is avatar of lord vishnu and how is he going to come and worriers who are ment to help him in war are chosen few immortals on earth.
there is a subtle mythological ref to why bhairava actually sees the complex. THis is purely my theory , but I wished it was presented clearly. Kali ( the anatagonist/kamal hassan) has a curse on him, that he is restricted to be in only 5 places on earth, that is kali exists where there is gambling, prostitution, cattle slaugter, gold, etc. So it would've been nice to see if the complex is an embodiment of these 5 tempatations. I was hoping they clearly showed these 5 tempatations and actually cements his ideology of going to Complex. it would've fit thematically
Actually they did that right coz the movie shows distorted Mahabharat and not actual Mahabharat. I suggest you read the actual epic rather than believe what movie industry feeds you.
@@ajking3184well, you are mistaken. Director nag Aswin clearly mentioned, this is a fiction being created post events of Mahabharata and is set 6000 years after the events of Mahabharata. He took creative advantage. If I could suggest, watch Mahabharata from old telugu movies there at least 20-4 of them, probably the only industry which produced the most number of puranas in India.
let me give you a little context about the historical/mythological context of all the characters and why this movie is such a gem of Indian cinema. Sum80 is actually sumati, it has been written in our scriptures that Kalki avatar will born from sumati in the land of Shambala (kalki purana: Purana is basically a style of scripture based around one god/goddess/almost godly figure). So her baby wasn't actually supposed to survive the complex but she did because it has to happen. We still don't know who the father is? which serum they put it in all the girls? what is project K? Supreme Yaskin is such an interesting character that I can't even wrap my head around it. It says in the Purana/scripture that in the final hours of the Kali Yuga(era) Kali Asur (Asur is the being you can compare with the devil/supreme kind of demon) was trying to bring an avatar to life under his control to destroy it all before the beginning of his end. Because Kali has been alive since the Satya yuga (the first of the four yugas). "Kali is the great-great-grandson of Brahma (The universe itself, Brahma is one of the three main Gods of the Hindu trinity). He is the son of Krodha (Anger) and his sister-turned-wife Himsa (Violence). He is the grandson of Dambha (Vanity) and his sister Maya (Illusion). He is the great-grandson of Adharma (Impropriety) and his wife, Mithya (Falsehood). Adharma was originally created from Brahma's back as a malina pataka (a very dark and deadly sinful object)." This portion is directly quoted from Kalki Purana's translation. So Kali knows what's going to happen and he has already tried several times to prevent it from happening all over again because in Hindu mythology/history/religion (whatever you say) there are multiverses and cyclical time periods. Kali manipulated incidents and historical events long before his reign, basically, there are four angelic (for the point of reference) figures who are considered to be the reigning lords of each of the four yugas, among them Dwapara and Kali are two, and they got way too much corrupted in their way. (I'm not gonna tell their whole origin stories and journey because it's a lot to unpack in a comment) So the war of Mahabharata that you were watching in the movie with lord Krishna and all, was happening in the Dwapara yuga under the reign of Dwapara (Asur, there's debate about it) the third yuga, then after Krishna's death the Kali-yuga started to unfold slowly and Kali became the reigning lord. In the Kalki Purana in the book The Origins of Evil in Hindu Mythology states Kali does not die in the end battle but, instead, escapes through time and space to live in the Kali Yuga of the next Kalpa (Kalpa is basically a Day of Brahma, where all life form takes places and Brahma has a night too, where all life forms that are created are sucked into him just like the theory of "Big Bounce: Creation of Universe" discovered in February 2006 by Abhay Ashtekar, Tomasz Pawlowski, and Parampreet Singh at Pennsylvania State University. One Kalpa consists of four yugas). If you guys really want to know more please let me know, I am more than happy to share! I really loved your enthusiasm throughout the Kalki premier and movie review! keep it up🖤

Karna the guy which is shown at end of movie was literally villan of Mahabharata but this nag Ashwin is a anti-hindu bigot he made him a hero to mock hindus

IT is sequel to mritunjay by devdutt Patnaik not mahabharatam Karna was shown more powerful than Arjuna which is not present in Mahabharata text Rath scene was literally copied from a hindi writer of 20th century only aswathama thing is from mahabharata. Also that krishna vs aswathama is totally false krishna never attacked aswathama it aswathama that gave his madi(stone) to Pandavas to save his life
This is the biggest cinematic universe and biggest movie with good visuals and a strong historical story .. do watch in theater and also before u watch try to know about maharatham history of indian and what happened in the last stages of Mahabharatam war
In Shaiva tradition, the bow Vijaya was wielded by Shiva and later presented to his devotee Parashurama. It is said that the string of this bow cannot be broken by any weapon, and when drawn, it creates a blinding flash of light capable of incapacitating one's enemy. According to the Mahabharata, Parashurama took Karna as his student. As Karna was not only talented but also Parashurama's favorite disciple, he blessed him with the Vijaya bow along with other celestial weapons. However, Karna never used this bow because he believed in his own skills and valor rather than relying on celestial weapons. Additionally, he felt guilty for accidentally killing a Brahmin's cow with this bow during a practice session. Karna finally used the Vijaya bow during the Kurukshetra war on the 17th day, in his life-and-death battle against Arjuna. Even Krishna advised Arjuna that Karna was undefeatable as long as he wielded the Vijaya bow. When Karna's chariot wheel got stuck in the mud, he left the bow to lift the wheel. Arjuna seized this opportunity and killed him, thus fulfilling Karna's destined end. Karna has been portrayed by prabhas in the last minutes of the movie. He acts unconsciously when the Vijaya bow touches his hand. Yaskin grabs Gandiva bow in the end of the movie, which is arjuns weapon given to him by Brahma(The creator). The ending is perfect with so many questions and theories. Expected for the next installment.

The interval is a huge part of the story telling and the screenplay. So there will always be a lull in the movie. Interval block is a common term used for indian movies. Also prabhas’s earlier filmography(before bahubaali) is very close to the characterization in kalki. Affable, lovable guy who has a good heart(han soloesque). That was a huge part of the fan service being done in the first half.
the anime flare your talking about isnt something of a stylistic choice ,the scenes from the intro ( Mahabaratham) are meant to be epic, because according to scriptures all the characters you saw are literally gods and the fights were described to be epic , and the yuga itself has a different set of rules to how things ran back in that yuga, now we are in kali yuga completely detached from god and all the a declining society , But dwapara yuga characters were describing to be at least 10 feet tall and have the unbelievably strong and physics defying powers( astras) . IT would've been a disservice if they didn't show the epicness of the characters, it feels strange as Anime made its mark ( a lasting impression) for along time, so we automatically relate to that . But the epics and scriptures and stories were thousands of years old. In fact a whole plotline for Avatar Last Airbender is a copy from Hindhu Scriptures.
In first half the fight sequence was clumsy bcoz it was done on purpose for prabhas fans it has to been done in india people like to see prabhas in that kind of fight
He's the worst part of the movie, if his unnecessary cringe scenes were removed it still won't bring any change to the story, the movie so much lagged bcuz of him.
