i absolutely love her insight on the changes and challenges of being a film maker and writer. she is so right about US having cinema as capsules in our lives especially films that are prominently Black.
Atlantic, and that movie is so problematic. That's because not just because it's called dirty dancing, but because of the age of the characters like she's what's 17 in the movie and these characters with 24.
I love JHud and Denzel...how beautiful it is to see Denzel give JHud the same level of honor and appreciation he receives for his performances. 2Greats!!💞
Where is Tom Cruise? I gotta see this. Just watched The Stepford Wives yesterday, she's so good in it despite the movie not being well liked. Tons of great performances by her, very deserved.
Brilliant job directing this series. Hopefully he does a lot more of that in the future. Nice to pay homage to Ripley’s Game. The humor he injects thru the series was perfect
The film's a masterpiece. I respect William Friedkin (and Pauline Kael's) opinion that this is one of the scariest films ever made. Wish I could agree but because Harry Powell is so easily defeated I think the film falls well short of that. There are definitely numerous scares in the film's first half. The valse triste scene of Powell killing his wife is super creepy and also has a sense of awe about it. The scene of the kids running from the darkened house with the sound of Powell smashing down the basement door is wonderfully scary & exciting.
Hearing this magnificent speech, this amazing assemblage of words that conjure great images, great doings and comings and goings, I have to wonder: Does anybody write like this anymore? Or even talk like this anymore? Or have the public schools, at long last, drummed greatness out of its students and replaced it with a useful (to others) mediocrity?
Crazy how he thinks today’s shoddy buildings can be safely climbed. Surprised that the facade didn’t collapse on him with the way they are constructing buildings and homes these days. Don’t put your life and trust in the hands of trash builders and inexperienced, unskilled, and untrained day laborers. Many of the new builds are 💩 and falling apart.
