Fantastic car and great review. I've got the TH and, for the life of me, I can't spot any difference between the models but I must say the TH's seat fabric has aged better than the TJ (no offence). Look after it and it will literally last a lifetime. I've got 200K on mine in 25 years and it hasn't missed a beat. The only thing it lacks is the modern safety features - I only have the driver airbag and ABS. Because it's quite long with a big bum, a parking camera or even sensors would be handy. The roof lining detached recently (not unusual in a hot climate), and the air-con vents are starting to blow out bits of the foam liner. Watch that poor turning circle too if attempting a u-turn.
Hey mate, sounds great! I don’t own the TJ anymore, sold it in January 2023 with 111,000kms. It was a very reliable and solid car, but I wanted a large 4x4 SUV.. so I bought a 2002 Mitsubishi NM Pajero Exceed a month later.. and what a mighty, luxurious vehicle it is, actually has the same 3.5L V6 that the Magna had. I’ve had my “new” vehicle for almost a year now and I still haven’t created any content relating to it sadly (I’m a busy bloke) but I absolutely love my big beast, and not only will I create a car tour, I might also make some 4x4 content soon 👀🔥

TJ came out in Executive, Advanced, Sports, VR-X, limited edition Si, limited edition Solara, Olympic Edition and the ultimate Ralliart. Verada came out with Ei, Xi and GTV.
Thank you mate, I did forget to mention the other limited edition models and of course, the ultimate Ralliart. A year on from making this video, I no longer own the Magna, I sold it for $3500 on Facebook Marketplace with 111,000kms on the clock (still had very low kms, as it was mainly driven locally during my ownership), which I hope the new owners are maintaining it and keeping it clean as much as I did! I now as of February drive a 2002 Mitsubishi Pajero Exceed, which I absolutely love and is easily the best car I’ve ever owned so far, will make a video tour on that soon when the weather in Adelaide gets better 👍🏻
Sounds like you got a sweet deal with yours. I as of four months ago no longer own the Magna, I sold it for $3500 on Facebook Marketplace with 111,000kms. I now drive a 2002 Mitsubishi Pajero Exceed, which I absolutely love, will make a video tour on that soon when the weather gets a bit better in Adelaide 👍🏻
Great review. Our Magna TJ has over 300k on the clock! I'm from Brunei and maintenance costs for these vehicles (including the 380) here are quite expensive. Only a handful of them are still on the road. I like the AWD system, and I also think the 6G72 V6 has plenty of power and delivers pretty immediately when needed.
Hey mate, I’m not planning on upgrading the suspension on mine, I’m very happy with how it is standard, still rides very smoothly. I also don’t plan to do it because I reluctantly am planning on possibly selling my Magna at some point over the next year for something bigger and more suitable for my needs..
Mine was factory lowered - looks cool but the stone tray and front spoiler clip those annoying concrete strips at the end of parking spots. I'd sooner have the extra clearance back.
Hey Kyrie, I used a GoPro Hero3+ Silver and had the head mount attached to it (yes, I do need a new GoPro by now, have had the same one for many years, I will upgrade soon) 👍🏻
There also a littl switch on the back of the boot on the inside so you can yous your key or the button on the keys unfortunately only one can be used at a time
Nice review mate very informative. Like you i too got my car in September of 2021 so about the same time , a 2001 kj verada xi top of the range also in white with 230000 kms on the clock. I had to replace the timing belt water pump radiator and hoses but its been the best car I've ever driven and your spot on the motor has a beautiful meaty tone to it. One thing i don't like about this car is it creeps over the speed limit without any effort so you have to pay attention if you want to keep your license lol 😂. I'm always sad when the drive is over can't get enough of it. Like you i have no plans to tinker with it just keep it stock standard and enjoy it like it was designed. Enjoy your car mate 👌👍
Hahah yep.. I sometimes went over the speed limit without paying attention too and it’s a pain though I have gotten used to it now. The Si is a beautiful drive, I absolutely the love the sportiness and comfort.. I haven’t replaced anything yet but the car does have a small oil leak underneath so I’ll get that inspected, and I will at some point replace the glass on the passenger side mirror as it is cracked from the previous owner’s grandchildren, and now the roof lining has sagged a lot since filming this video so I’ll get it retrimmed very soon to get it looking new again.. I hope you’re enjoying your Verada too mate, they’re beautiful cars, I was actually nearly about to buy a Verada GTV a month before I bought the Magna Si but it sold before I could get my hands on it.. which is a shame because I loved the black leather and woodgrain trim, but I think at the end I made a much better choice buying this car, as this had 96,000kms when I bought it (99,000kms now) whereas the Verada had 210,000kms and was more expensive and the Si was in brand new condition inside and out (still is in mint condition as I’m always consistently maintaining it and cleaning it :)
@@BaileyEthanRawson you can replace the roof lining yourself i did it on my dads jaguar after researching RU-vid videos got quoted 1k so did it myself , lining and 3M professional spray glue cost $140 and the results were like from factory. You will probably need to do the timing belt and water pump at 100k if its not been done to prevent the valves smashing into the pistons should the belt break. This is the most costly service and once done your free for another 100k. Yeah mines got the grey leather and woodgrain plus back headrests and sun roof really classy . Look after your car mate cause its really hard to find these cars now especially with your mileage.
@@sreckosvalina9547 - I’m getting the car serviced at 100,000kms (which won’t be very long until it reaches that now, I’m giving it a few weeks, the reason being is that I rarely drive the car these days, it only gets driven locally, to the city and to my mates houses, as I recently quit my job as I couldn’t cope mentally or keep up with the speed of the job I had, however I am going to do volunteer work soon which will bring some kms on the car again), so all of those will be inspected and looked at.. interesting about the roof liners, didn’t realise it was that expensive.. thanks for the tip 🙂
@@BaileyEthanRawson yeah the reason is the jaguar xj6 has a sunroof that needs to come out to do the lining so a 9 hour all day job. Mate don't be afraid to ask for help if needed , we men try to bottle it all in and put on a brave face and fix things ourselves . Look after your mental health and speak to your family and friends openly , i think that's the approach we should all take and look after one another. All the best mate ☺
@@sreckosvalina9547 - thank you mate, yeah mental health is a tough battle at times for everybody, it is something I will eventually make a video on, having autism certainly doesn’t help things either.. My Si doesn’t have a sunroof so hopefully I can get a cheaper quote for it, I will go to my local trimmer before I consider doing a DIY job for this as I don’t trust my handyman skills for this 🤣
You did a fantastic job on your review! I've watched many car reviews from various RU-vidrs and have written a few myself and having watching yours I can say you spoke very well and concisely plus did a good job on the camera angles. 9:45 is the ODO trip reset button, at least that's what I call it. My mate had a TW VR-X AWD which drove quite well and had good grunt. My VZ Calais which has significantly more power struggled against the lighter AWD VR-X. I've always wanted a Magna myself and looked at getting one as a first car, but settled on a Pulsar as I was unable to find any low km manual Magna's in SA at the time.
Thanks heaps mate! The VZ Calais is a nice car, brilliant choice. I hope to do more car reviews in the future to bring more variety to the channel which is mostly about filmmaking, tech reviews and the occasional hotel tour review and lots of other things.. I’ve already got ideas on what the next car review will be, as my family have lots of awesome cars. Magna’s with manual transmissions are a very hard find these days, if you find one online with low kms and for a good price, buy it immediately 👊🏻👊🏻
@@BaileyEthanRawson Cheers I am very pleased with the Calais. I do look forward to seeing more content. Keep up the solid work mate! You're taking on some good areas being tech and automotive, so the variety will be much appreciated and rather unique too. Certainly keeping an eye out, but in this current climate even finding a clean ES Magna is hard. Won't stop us from trying however.
Well done. "Bird of prey" is what the automotive media named the TJ at launch. Unless you're keeping it stock, consider the parabolic headlights (though the glass units emit more light) and may be a white instruments facia?
Thanks heaps mate, means a lot.. I do plan on keeping the car mostly stock, as the Si and the TJ overall isn’t an easy car to find these days in immaculate, original condition, mine was an extremely lucky find, especially with the condition and low kilometres.. I have seen Magna’s with the white instrument cluster, it gives it a very classy and modern look..
@@BaileyEthanRawson You can actually put on Doctor John's Cam's & tune it to run on 98 octane on the stock ECU & still claim it's a stock car. Power will go past 200kw at the flywheel if you do though. But some Magna's came with this setup from the factory. I would definitely put on some modern performance tyre's too, Mitsubishi had a habit of putting on the worst tyre's available. Switch the full size spare tyre kit for a flat tyre repair kit too, you have to take out the boot floor carpet (it's not nailed down so you can just lift it out) as it can't stay in shape once the spare tyre is removed, should shave off over 20kg. This will give you class leading performance for this segment. It's actually more reliable with this setup as 98 octane cleans out everything.
@@brantleyfoster021 yeah sounds good though I won’t be putting 98 Octane in it any time soon due to the ridiculous fuel prices presently, the original tyres were replaced by the previous owner (he inherited it off his sister in-law’s mother to sell it) before he sold it to me, as the original ones had cracks in them from sitting on rocky concrete for so long and never being used, so I’ve never noticed anything bad with the new tyres..
@@BaileyEthanRawson It will save money in the long run to put in 98 octane fuel though because the engine will last longer. Plus you'll get better fuel economy, in fact switching to Michelin performance tyre's will also improve fuel economy. If they are the original car's tyre's, the latest performance tyre's will always have much better grip, fuel economy, lifespan, roadholding & safety over 20 year old tyre's.
I was originally going to get the red one actually (my previous iPhone was red) but sadly they ran out.. maybe my next iPhone (that I will likely get in 2023/24) will hopefully be red depending on the model I buy
I made the room tour video last year (the video after this one), though since making that video, I have made some changes to the office room again to make it more practical and ergonomic (not finished yet)
Hahah I will never be or consider myself to be as good as the legendary tech RU-vidrs that I watch and inspire me to make these videos, but thank you heaps! :)
@@BaileyEthanRawson yes man i completely agree💜 even i real i also like dark mode than light Although i dont have an iphone rn but as soon as my exams end i'll be getting mine. And that also in black coz "black is ♥" As uk this pandemic shit is delaying everything in india 😑
