Hey,Thanks for uploading the series of ITV Starting out.I was wondering how to access all the episodes, particularly of 1986 "Starting out".Would be great if you can help me on this
Bloody hell takes me back to sitting on the floor in the assembly hall, legs crossed and the big TV on the tall single leg being wheeled out, and then the doors opened up by the teacher. . Miss it now.
As I've got older, I've come to love this kind of music. Pure coincidence that I think of this TV programme and find out how good the theme really was!!!! I've just been tearily taken straight back to my childhood in 80's England. ❤😢
I have found a list of the ITV Schools programmes that were shown on Monday the 5th, Tuesday the 6th, and Wednesday the 7th of December 1988, as part of The Terms Ahead Preview from The National Arts Education Archive website , but sadly no time or date is added to it , but it is in order, but here it is Inset: using talk secondary science/ Going places: exploring school/ Talk write and read: Rod Campbell- making books/ Teaching Cdt: design, make, evaluate/ Let yourself go/ Skills for living: what is Cpve? The English programme: models of writing/ Middle English: fairy tales/ Talk write and read: Rosen's writing guide/ Picture box: beyond the roaring forties/ How we used to live: Flower power/ Starting out: commercial breaks/ Swings and roundabouts: Tommy's house Maths is fun: visit to the zoo/ Videomaths: lines/ Mathematical eye: Measurement/ Science start here: flight/ Scientific eye: hearing and sound/ Science and technology: car design/ Facts for life: the invaders/ environments: city parks minibeasts
It was 35+ years ago - so my increasingly unreliable memory may have this wrong - but I'm sure I remember this track being used when Mike dumped some random girlfriend. She drove off down Ramsay Street - and, thus, out of Neighbours! - after about three episodes, with this one blaring over her departure. (Opening the door for yet another fling with Plain Jane the Superbrain!)
The theme tune that the show is mostly remembered for was performed on a glass harmonica (aka a glass harmonium) and was "Manège" by the Baschet Brothers.
picture box was a bore.....it was mean time when picture box was on air....and I remmber there was a bigger reason to be watching the TV that was on after picture box and I can't remember what it was
What a wonderful piece Southern Rhapsody was. Poignant mention of Jack Hargreaves who would be the inspiration for Coughing Bob Fleming on the Fast Show.
There's a stereo version of this, dubbed from the original ten-inch LP, here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RUP4oBDtGt8.html .... where there is also a photo of the album sleeve, showing what the "Structures Sonores" look like. There is also some contemporary documentary footage of (?) Lasry and Baschet playing them here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-awaFd6gArLg.html
That’s possible. The first time I saw it was February 1979, and footage confirms it was in use then. Unfortunately there’s no relevant recordings (so far) from Autumn 1978 to confirm it was in use then. It would make sense that they introduced the new clock in September, at the start of a new school year.
