I"ve played video games as female characters. i didn't want to be girl because of that. in fact i played Diabo as female characters because of their projectile weapons or magic. but, i didn't wake up one day thinking: "Gee, i think i'm a girl" i thought, "Nice legs. great ass." that sort of things. LOL.
People, male and female, play as the opposite sex on countless games countless times, daily, hourly……… ETA: play as the opposite sex *ON PURPOSE. i.e. it’s not the only character available, they/we choose them consciously… Doesn’t make a single one trans. What a minute, irrelevant example to use as part of an argument

I've never got a chance to ask questions to a trans woman, so I'm gonna ask you 😅 what is to be a woman? What does "woman" mean to you? Because I heard a lot of stories like the ones you told, and it's mostly about appearances (wanting to wear a dress, to feel "pretty", to wear makeup) and these are very old fashioned ways to describe what it is to be a woman. I know many women who don't like makeup, or heels, or "being feminine", but I've never seen a trans woman who doesn't like the idea of "being feminine"... If society would allow you to be a man and wear makeup and pretty clothes, would you still be a woman? Just to be clear, I'm just trying to understand, sorry if I come out rude, that's not my intention...
I am a cis woman and I ask myself that all the time... Gender is such a mistery to me... What is perceived as feminine also changes a lot. I'm currently thinking a lot about giving birth as the most female thing I can do in my life. But that doesn't mean that women who don't give birth are not feminine... It's all so strange and confusing

I think my biggest clue was when I got my period for the first time. I knew what was happening, my mom made sure I knew everything about periods so I would be prepared. I saw the blood in my underwear and said "Nope. Not happening." I took care of the blood and went about my day acting like nothing had happened. Eventually I told my mom but I wanted so badly to will my uterus out of existence. Took me years to understand why that was.
I looked up Charlie today because I saw an add for the comedian Tim minchin. And remembered when he filmed a video with him and forgot to record audio. That being said was not expecting this. Charlie I wish you spoke to a psychologist before you did this to yourself, I know all the trans people get their backs up when someone questions them but we don't want our children growing up thinking it's okay to not be themselves.
For the most part, trans people do talk to psychologists and go through therapy before they transition, and transition is the only recognized, functional treatment for gender dysphoria.
@@ErinBanneret At the moment it is. Doesn’t mean it’s the best response. Had I been born later, growing up in today’s society, I too would’ve likely been trans. I’m not. I wasn’t. You grow out of it because you learn to accept your uniqueness. I am grateful for having had TIME to GROW.

I have very similar experiences with being ace. I’m 30 and only realised it a few years ago. Looking back it should have been obvious. From never understanding crushes, to a literal disinterest in sex, but expecting it to change when I hit puberty (which was late for me. About 15) and then deciding it was because I wasn’t old enough. I continued making excuses for why it was the case even after I learnt the term ace after coming out as bi, because I wasn’t repulsed by topics or movie scenes that alluded to it (trying to get around RU-vid censors) as I found that tended to be the case when I looked into what ace meant. (So thanks internet for giving me a warped idea of what being ace was!) I went from not understanding ace people at all, to recognising that there is a vast spectrum. Thanks to RU-vid and finding people who had a more nuanced perspective of what being ace was like. I feel like covid was a time a lot of people had time for self discovery and identity as being stuck at home caused us all to look inward and reflect on ourselves.
