Its very...purple...and that photo at the start does not make it appealing, but, thank god, that dies away over the video. (And it does look like something a peasant would have on his table straight out the gate.) Having seen what goes into it now I think I'll try it. I think by "breadcrumbs" they don't mean the dusted version we know today. I think they meant actual crumbs you break into the stew from old bread, so some bigger pieces in there too that help soak up that beef flavor from the bones. Very interesting to see the algorithm actually suggesting *interesting* things to me!
You are right about the color! I used red cabbage but recommend to try it with green cabbage. The flavor was good though. Also agree with your assessment on the bread crumbs. Using day old dry bread and crumbling it as a thickener would be better than using the fine crumbs.
Hello Nick. Hope you’re well. I am glad I found this video. Loved the presentation, the display, the personal stories and of course the sets themselves. Fellow chess collector here. I showcase sets in my collection as short video presentations. I welcome you to check them out at youtube.com/@theindianchesscollector?si=kTHiIB8NU4ckhXll
I had not seen that set previously. I just looked and bought one on eBay! It will be in my part 2 video as I have about a dozen new sets since making the first video.
@@nicksaint-erne -awesome. Was my favorite set as a kid. They made two versions. I had the set that was not weighted. My brother and I filled them with sand to make them heavier. I bought a weighted set several years ago that also stand taller. I just got a Noble Collection Harry Potter Chess set that I am hoping will be delivered today.
The set I ordered was packaged poorly and sent back unfortunately. I am looking for a good ceramic set like what you had in this video. Also, looking forward to your updated collection video. I have a square off set I added last year (a table that you can play against people online) and an Isle of Lewis set have been my favorite pick ups.
Do you have to cover your crickets in calcium in every two months calcium with vitamin D three when you do that you don’t use the other calcium calcium with vitamin D three
Have them growing all over my front + backyard! How lucky to find I can eat them. Always use 1-2 strips of bacon in my greens, added water( because I love any greens broth to drink)+ they're good. So I'll try saute-ing them this recipe sounds great. Thanks! I think I am allergic to ragweed, also grows everywhere here, but didn't notice any reactions. What would they be?? Already have the stuffy nose + weepy eye from all the other weeds around here, so what would it affect I need to know about?
I live in İstanbul and that chess set with Ottomans vs Crusaders is a well-known and popular that you can find it at any gift shop and bazaar. They are even a tourist-attraction piece/souvenir as I see they are usually surrounded by tourists from all around the world. I had always wanted to have one but they are really expensive for us Turks but I'm happy you have that and I hope you enjoy playing with it :) Oh and I have a question- do you usually play as the Ottomans or as the Crusaders? 😅
Nice paint job on the ceramic set. My favorite set is one I was given for Christmas about fifty years ago. It's a plastic set with tall figures. It was sold by Sears.
You have a great collection. I find lots of vintage chess sets and chess books in thrift stores every month. Seems nobody is into chess and donating them where I live. I also find old wooden boxes, jewelry boxes, music boxes, silverware cases, etc, that I repurpose to store the chess pieces. Crown Royal liquor bags for my plastic loose sets.
Thank you for sharing your collection! I think it is really neat that you still have your childhood sets (We are about the same age, so I know how hard it is to keep something like that through various moves. My hat's off to you.) Neat that you've enjoyed chess for so many years--I'm just getting started.
I had them stored away for many years as I did not have time to play chess. Now they are on display and I am trying to find more time to play. I actually have acquired many more sets since the video was made, so should du a sequel.
I’ve got a extremely unique chessboard you might be interested in. I make the pieces as well but it’s the board that I think is very cool and extremely unique. If you’re interested at all, let me know and I’ll send you a link to my website (I’m not sure if RU-vid allows external links or auto deletes the comments).
The thin strips of veneer is what I used 60 years ago when I made my chessboard. I cut Walnut and Birch strips into 2" x 2" squares and glued them on a Mahogony board. Finally sanded and painted it all with shellac. That was before polyurethane. 😊
The black and white reversible disk is a unique idea to show whose turn it is. Especially since your will likely be enjoying some knightly Port during the battle.
Definitely port is involved! I usually only make one or two moves at a time, then indicate which side's turn it is. That way I can review the board when I return to continue the game and decide upon the best move for each side, with out bias.
@@nicksaint-erne so you play against yourself? How do you keep your other self from knowing your secret strategy? I would guess you often end up with a Draw.
@@katoexo5753 By only making one or two moves at a time, then walking away, I have to analyze the positions when I return and play the best move for the side whose turn it is.
Thank you! See my poem about the Opera chess game. I would love to go to Egypt some day. Went to South Africa last December and bought a chess set with carved wooden animals. Lion and Lioness as King and Queen. 😊
We were "babysitting" a friend's dog once and he got ahold of one of the white pawns and nibbled on it a bit. That is why I chose this Staunton chess set to be the one to put up on the wall. 🐕♟
