Nice summary covering the basics. I noticed (@5:20) the sub display and the main screen don't match. The main screen has 'phase' (on screen and a knob) but the sub screen doesn't have this. And the main screen doesn't have a nob to change 'depth' but the sub screen does. Hopefully an update will bring these two screens into sync since there is room to do that. Have you had any conversations with Yamaha about having them provide a brief document that describes technically what each of the parameters does? For example what do the 'wavefolder', 'texture', 'type' (soft/hard) and Folder/vel actually modify?
Hi thank you for your comment and your question. Subscreen is by definition a quick way to edit only essential parameters rather to like on central screen have all settings available, that’s why you do not have all central screen settings on subscreen. If you need all settings, just press page jump, it allow you to have the same screen on sub and central, use the bottom central screen encoders in dual with subscreen knobs allow a great way to edit. Take a closer look on central screen also for LFO, on central screen the LFO Depth is on bottom left position. The Manuals have been update with all new OS 2.0 functions, download them, the html and pdf, you will find them here fr.yamaha.com/fr/products/music_production/synthesizers/montagem/downloads.html#product-tabs Wave folder is on page 408 on English pdf version (369 on French), it explain what does the wave folder done, wave forlder knob add more wave forlder, for texture i have write on my subtitles that on left the wave folder sound is dark, on right it’s bring bright, velocity adjust the velocity answer of av folder i explain that, and soft /hard is the base setting to have a soft wave folder or a hard wave forder, the range on soft is limited rather on hard it’s full range. Hope that’s help
@@Moessieurs Thanks but I don't find it helpful when the doc says that a 'texture' knob saying a 'texture' knob changes the texture. What I'm looking for is a brief explanation of what it does to change the texture. Same with the doc saying the 'wave folder' parameter specifies the degree of wave folding. The question is what, technically, is it changing? The harmonic content? Adding a noise component? That is the sort of info I would like Yamaha to provide. Not an exact formula but some sense of what is being changed.
Hi, thank you for this question, I have it on two laptop and one desktop, but I’m on a dedicated trainer licence. Simply install it from the download manager on each computer and use the Steinberg activation. Manager to validate them, if you see that you cannot install on the third you will know it’s limited at two. So install it on the two most important computer you need first and check for the third.
Thank you very much, I have just bought the Yamaha Montage M8x and was struggling to play the ESP plug-in, using my Korg Liano, Cubase and a Mac. Your instructional Video pointed out that on ESP settings, it must be set to channel 1. Somehow it had been set to channel 16. Thanks again. Graham
Hi, yes, on Pc/Mac available for Montage M Users only through a dedicate download code, Yamaha install guide is here europe.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/6/2231506/Install_Guide_ESP_MontageM_En.pdf
You can buy a Montage M Synth on any agreed music store on your country for price dépend on tax, here on Europe it’s a range from 3800 euro to 4700 euro dépend if you buy a M6, M7 or M8x synth keyboard
Hi thank you for your question, green are single part performances, blue are multi parts performances. To see only new performances from OS 2.0 go to attribute in category search performance and select on bottom to see only Montage M OS2.0 performances, hope that’s help here is screen capture from ESP work in same way on Montage M on dedicate Attribute screen www.moessieurs.com/Montage_M/gallery/01-Piano.jpg. Used this video to update my M to 2.0...thanks! Can you distinguish the sonic difference between the original CFX and the CFX2 on the update? Are their characteristics to listen for?
You're welcome, i"m glad that update video help you, i do not have so much time to test depper with all videos and articles to produce for today and sound provinding and mixing + band rehearsal and stage on previous week-end and the one to come, like yo have update you can try, set the same audition demo to listen the CFX and CFX2 ;)
@@Moessieurs Thanks :) I checked them out. They are quite different considering they're both emulating the same piano. I do really like the CFX2, though! I'm just an amateur with a synth/keyboard that's over my head so I appreciate getting to chat with Yamaha pros :)
One more question ...... are we able to send MIDI Program Change to the ESP? I was planning on having one instance of the ESP in Gig Performer (in a Global Rack) and then sending a Program Change from the different Rack Spaces to the ESP......
@@Moessieurs I am being hopeful Yamaha will add it to the next release. I want to leave my Montage M at home and use a lighter MIDI controller for rehearsals.
@@sergiomasciotra8646 I will like too for having in control through Camelot Pro, I do not have too much time to test this, I try in quick way because I need to prepare my topic for the tech talk live and for the two week end to come I’m full busy as sound provider and mixing and also for the band …
Hi thank you for your question, Check my how to assign controllers video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kYhKVQtQu_c.htmlsi=k1gI2jYX2LoYcApb. Hope that’s help
Thank you for this video! I just received my MODX6+ yesterday and was having a LOT of trouble pressing the Page Up and Down arrows in the category selector - I had to press all the way in the lower right corner of the screen instead of on the buttons. I quickly realized the touchscreen was not calibrated correctly. Your video saved my day :) Thanks again!!
Thank you for your comment, great that my video help you, you have a lot of discovring, i hope my MODX+ bascis playlist will help you, have a nice sunday.
Hello there, love the videos! Is there any way for the Hammond presets not to reset the Drawbars to the default setting, but to read the actual values, when switching from a Live Set o another Live Set?
Hi, thank you for your kind words and your question, There is no way to not "reset" drawbars, when you call a new live set, it come with the drawbars settings store in the live set, if you want you can write this idea on Yamaha ideascale yamahasynth.ideascale.com/ have a nice evening.
Hi, thank you for your question, if you talk about managing performances form several librarys to create a new, wait two weeks, next week video topic is about loading, week after is about data utility and using library import will be on the bonus.
hello, i have a doubt. I saw that the best method to load up a sound from a vst to my keyboard is using this program. What i do is that i record every note of the vst giving names like `C3, D3, F3...` and the program recognize the root key but automatically pitches the note to all keys and thats not what i want. I want that D3 stays in D3 and not be pitched to all the keys in my keyboard. So, i noticed that what i need to do is to change de key range of the note. If its a C3 i manually change the key range to C3- C3. However, doing that in every key is super annoying so my question is: isnt there a better and faster way to do that? any configuration that i can change so that my root key is the only key that a specific sample will play, in other words: isnt there a faster way to stop the transposition that the program automatically does when i load up a new sample? thanks for you attention.
Hi, thank you for that question, by default it load sample with a full key range, that's how John Melas have program the software, after that if you select all samples, done a right clic > Keyboard split you have 4 choice to rearrange key range on one shot. set the better you need to have things "equal" around notes, if you really to have each sample only set to it's root key, select each sample one by one done a right clic > Keyboard split and set chromatic split, by choising one by one each sample it set the range to the root key, not perfect but better than to go on edit key and setting range up and down in manual way, hope that's help
@@Moessieurs thanks, i tried here and it worked! however i tried by selecting all samples and choosing the chromatic split and it worked for all of then. why do i need to do one by one? when i selected all it changed every note selected
@@MsJoaopedroferreira great I have just made a test with two samples and the result was not great, if it’s work for you let’s Go with multiple samples 👍
Thanks for this video. How can i copy settings (effects etc.) from a performance to another performance? I know with shift > job you can copy what you like into parts and elements on the same performance. How can i do it to another performance?
Hi,there is no copy option from one performance to one other. Each part come with it's 2 insertion FX. If you talk about system FX reverb and variation, they are at common level, so you need to choose the performance where you want to keep that reverb and variation FX and merge part(s) you want from another performance on that performance, hope that's help.
Bonjour, merci Joel.
Is there a way to map the scenes buttons to a controller, so that we don't have to use a mouse to select the different scenes when using a standard controller?
Hi yes, i show that at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-86NuYpLFeHI.html control change is 92 and depth is each 16 "steps" scene 1 depth 1 to 16, scene 2 depth 17 to 32, scene 3 .... so you need to set that CC and depth on your controller, hope that's help
I’m struggling to understand how to load a sample in to add to my sounds I’ve created. If every time I load in some data it wipes my user data, how am I going to be able to add anything to what I already have?
Hi you need to load the sample directly from the OSC edit Element or edit key for a drum kit, not from the utility, content, load screen, check my video about how to load samples on a drum kit ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I9yR7cTg-oM.html hope that's help
Hi,Select a folder then bottom right the explorer window, you clic on "Select a folder" or Enter, when you have done that, it open the Cubase Empty project.
Excellent video! I want to use the A/D input on my MODX7+ as a microphone input for solo performances and want to use the internal effects on the mic signal. You answered all my questions about how to do this! The bonus section on using the global setting to use my preferred mic setup is exactly what I was looking for! Merci beaucoup!
Can I switch CamelotPro scenes with Montage's scene buttons? For example, I want to switch to CamelotPro's scene 1 with scene button 1, and to CamelotPro's scene 2 with scene button 2.
Hi, possible and not in that way, Montage's scene memory send data on control change 92. Some users set the scene memory buttons 7 and 8 that you can assign in Camelot remote for go to previous / next Camelot scene, but in that case you lose the scene memory 7/8 using on your Montage's to let the two slots only available to change Camelot scene. The other option on Camelot remote is to set scene change by program change from 1 to 128 to allow acces if need to camelot scenes from 1 to 128, but the scene memory Montage's buttons not allow to send program change, That's why my advice like i show on video is to set the assignable pedal to camelot remote "next" scene, then the camelot scene allow you the select the scene memory you need on your Montage"s, of course in that case, you cannot use the foot switch for something else, but in Camelot you can add MIDI controllers by Camelot scene to as an example activate Asign 1 or 2 buttons or any Control change and value to change something, it keep also your hands free to play. Have a nice week-end
Thank you for your reply. Your reply included everything I wanted to know and was perfect. I thought I could solve the problem if I could convert CC to program change using some kind of tool, but I still haven't found a solution. It would be best if CamelotPro could change to a specific scene using CC, but it seems that CamelotPro is designed to be used as a master, so it seems difficult to freely assign MIDI controls to functions and use it as a slave. I want to use only Montage as the master to control all the software. Do you know any software other than CamelotPro that has a scene switching function and allows you to freely assign functions to MIDI controls?
