The front "marker lamp" is a marker lamp, turn signal lamp, and most importantly a cornering lamp that illuminates when the turn signals are activated. Id leave them in as it adds to the elegance this body style has. Perhaps you could modify them by shortening their height and extending the length.... just a thought.
Cool Eldorado, check and decode the data plate to see if that was built from the factory without a vinyl top. If so that would explain why the roof isn't rusting through. I'm certainly a fan of this body style with the '68 being my favorite of the 67-70 Eldorados. The Cadillac and LaSalle Club and Modified Cadillac are two great online forums for assistance, information, and parts.
Congratulations. I'm eager to see the progress. I love Packards, and you've got two terrific ones. The green one would make a splendid mid-century version of an SUV...with those curved rear windows.
This old Packard ambulance has had a hard life and it's probably part of the very last batch of Packards ever converted as such. Judging by the light grey-blue paint on the inner rear panels I'm guessing it might have been a US Navy contract built car. Good luck on the restoration and thanks for sharing.
That's got a lot of shape to it but it has a great 1950's vibe to it. I had a 1952 Packard which was a really smooth driving car .A great pity they went under as it could have been a rival to Mercedes Benz.
good luck on your new toy ive wanted one of these for years love post war packard's.that ships wheel is referring to the base clipper model that they must have used for this conversion. invest in a hydrolic ram and that roof should pop out with out a lot of problems, go slow dont try and gain a lot from each push and some gentle hammering she be fine.
Great question! The driveline goes through the floorboard on the left side, so I didn't have room for the pedals on the left. So I decided to make it right hand drive.
