I'm an Adult Fan Of Lego (AFOL) who is exploring the world of LEGO. I am building trains, cities, and other interesting LEGO creations in addition to checking out LEGO conventions around the world!
Make sure to send us a message if there is something in particular you want us to review, build, or try!
Yes! I can't imagine not having a basement for the layout at this point. I also appreciate the fact that it stays cool in the summer which makes it easier to work on year round.
These are always super cool. Being in the same LUG with Tom and hearing and seeing the behind the scenes as these builds progress has been really exciting.
I prefer to use the gray 48x48 baseplates for MILS though I do like using up any odd size baseplates, such as the 5x5, 5x10 (inches) and any others I have in my collection or from used bulk lots. I never thought I would be able to use those. I do also have some of those old road baseplates that were designed for four wide vehicles but I'm ok with retiring those.
Because there is not a single soul to be seen in the entire MOC, it has an eerie atmosphere. As if xeromorphs had attacked the station and wiped out the settlers or abducted them to their lair.
Where to find more info on that amazing cab forward? Been trying to build one for years without getting it quite right, would love to see more pictures of it.
That's the kind of build I dream of, it's so incredible to gaze at even over a video. How does one go about transporting something like that to a venue though?
Lots of boxes/containers I imagine and from what I saw the build was transported in many chunks that were then put together during the setup portion of the convention. Always really impressive though to see how much people are able to transport while keeping everything in one piece for the most part.
I always thought that the different dark grey bars was intentional and done to signify this is a special edition train. Probably the best Lego train ever made, certainly the best Lego diesel, with Emerald Beauty being the best Lego train.
The very understated way you say, "A little hard to get". And there I am thinking, "A little hard to get??????? more like "A large hard to get". Where on earth did you find that train? Do you have access to one of those Star Trek replicators?, "Computer, I would like a Santa Fe Super Chief, make it a limited edition one".
I also want to thank you - I put a fair amount of effort into making sure my GBC modules are lit for World of Lights, and you did a really nice job of capturing them! For the record: My modules were kind of split up, because of the way we decided to do the low tables for kids. My first module, the ancient aqueduct ruins and "haunted hill", starts at 1:33. My next group of modules is the batch lifter, the "future city tower", and the crisscross track, starting at 2:16. My last group of modules start at 3:05, with the second batch lifter, which feeds the quad-screw mover. Finally, we come out of the low section with my S-Curve lifter at 3:20, which then leads into the dark tower bridge at 3:32. (And excellent job catching the balls flying through the down-spiral!)
You are welcome! Your modules were great! It is always a highlight for me to see the GBC modules during the day and then see how they translate with World of Lights.
