Would be fascinating to hear the actual audio of them miming these without the background track. I'm guessing Ringo had to actually hit his drums and cymbals to make the mime work. And the same must be true with the guitars and vocals-the best way to "sell it" would be to actually play and sing without amplification. Obviously, the guitars would be very plunky and quiet-even George's Gretsch (either a Country Gentleman or a Tennessean, both of which appear to be semi-hollow bodies, but in reality are solidbodies with painted-on f-holes) would be nearly silent compared to their normal use with amps. Since the three of them were great singers, I'll bet the vocals would be surprisingly good. The toughest part, I'm sure, was for them to do this with a straight face.
Oblivion . . .? Well that was interesting . . . apart from the girls the rest of the band sucked . . No harmony . .Timing like a broken watch . .the guitar was great . . . decoration . .you might find someone to play it
Hello. I'm writing to ask about Apple's second part of the Get Back sessions. Is it possible to access a link to download the material? thanks and regards.
These are practice sessions essentially as the song was actually recorded at Trident Studios using 8-track equipment. Abbey Road still only had 4-track equipment available to their talent although they had received 8-track equipment but their engineers were still testing it and wouldn't let the musicians yet record using it. EMI was sort of weird that way. 8-track equipment was used in the USA back in the early '60s but EMI was reluctant to implement it at Abbey Road and their other studios (EMI Marconi Pathe in Paris, EMI in India, etc.), EMI would effectively release the 8-track equipment for use at Abbey Road later in 1968.
The youngster at 8:33 is probably wondering what the fuss and noise is about! It’s about an incredible phenomenon the world has never seen before - BEATLEMANIA!
Looks like hair curlers were definitely the in thing! The clips of the 4 lads are definitely worth waiting for, and I have never seen a better performance of I Wanna Hold Your Hand! Their rise to world domination is mindblowing. These chopped up film clips, some tatty and riddled with interference, strung together to make a video, are, in spite of all that, absolutely priceless!!!
At the end of the day …..despite the ups and downs…..they loved each other….and nobody but the four of them understood it…..they sometimes couldn’t live with each….but knew they couldn’t live without each other……the occupied a space and time musically that will never be repeated……
Lovely. George does that *really* annoying thing that guitarists do, fiddling about on the guitar while you're trying to talk. I've endured that so many times that it's a relief to find that even the Beatles do it. ❤
A little bit better video than their last concert at Candlestick Park 8 days later. Practically no video of that. What a shame. I should have brought my camera 😀
