Point of order, but the railroads were constructed across the country in a matter of months at a time. The Alaska highway was constructed in a year. The biggest obstacle to the above replacement was red tape and not technical ability. If red tape is impossible to overcome then there is a problem with the red tape.
This one, the I-95 Philadelphia bridge, the Baltimore bridge clean up, etc idk why the government is always painted as "they can't get things done" (unless we talking about military contracts, but thats just corruption)
yeah well maybe they got lucky and dont have a corrupt governmment in WSDOT YET, but just give it time, the bordr is letting in tons of great workers, but at the same time its letting in a lot more baddies
Its interesting to see these kinds of bridges become more common. My local shortline made something similar in abt 2 weeks but used standard I Beams instead of concrete for the decking.
Surprised the EPA didn't sue the state of Washington in court to make them stop construction until they did a 2-year study on how it would effect the non-existent prairie dog population in the area.
This should be a non story... This is supposed to be America and repairing/replacing a train trestle should be an "oh by the way" type story. There was already a trestle there why do you need an impact study no matter how quick it's done?
Taxpayers' money is used for a private railroad project? Just like the bridge in Baltimore hit by a private shipping company. They have insurance, and it should be their financial responsibility. Not Taxpayers!
The funny part of this video is that WSDOT is tooting its own horn for completing this bridge quickly but what they really did is get out of the way and let the private business who actually built the bridge get to work. If WSDOT had its way the bridge would have taken months or years due to bureaucratic red tape.
THIS is what the process should look like. Move aside the ridiculous multi-year studies...all the BS of every known bottom feeder trying to make money from the process, all the ridiculous lawsuits to save an endangered snail....just get it done! While some regulation is needed, THIS is a great example of having a sense of urgency and cutting through the red tape. In general, we are better off with 5% of the current regulations and more efforts like this one. Allow common sense to prevail. This is why we need a different mindset from the very top down....cut the amount of regulation and red tape. Allow basic studies to be completed in 15 days...not 5 years. You get 15 days MAX to organize facts of a study. 1 day can be set aside for discussion. 1 day for a final determination. MOVE FORWARD. Bidding can be organized simultaneously and decided in 1 day. THAT is IT. BOOM. It gets moving and gets done. No chance for multi-million dollar studies, committees, and endless spiraling BS.
Repost without the fucking music. I can't understand what you're saying because you're blasting fucking music in the background. I didn't come here to listen to twinkly fucking music I came here to listen to you talk about the railroad trestle. I came here to listen to you talk why are you playing music?
If only Americans had enough money to do maintenance properly it never would have happened…. Even basic cleaning of the land around a timber structure isn’t real had to work out….
That type of collaboration should be instituted for our entire rail infrastructure. Kudos to the state, farmers and government offices for making this happen by expediting this project forward so quickly.
As a former railroad conductor and a former track maintenance foreman, I commend the workers and the engineers who did this job. I will say that your narration had one error at the beginning. The cars are hoppers, not container cars.
That is a great example of the embodiment of T.E.A.M. work. Together Everyone Achieves More. Put politics aside, and work toward the greater good. Imagine how many issues could get resolved if we went BACK to this.
This is what happens when people come together and make it happen. Why can't our whole country do the same. Put aside the political bullshit and political parties and just get it done.
