Easy to tell how clueless you are when you are making a video to an outdoor audience. No supplies…. Has hatchet, tarp, clearly cut logs with a chainsaw, and help to move those logs. How do I know. Black shirt and pants and no sweat. in tennis shoes. And the clearly cut parts of the logs.
Thank you for your comment! The fire frame was already there which is why you may think we brought a chainsaw, and I did bring a few small essentials. I encourage you to watch the full video on this channel, which shows and explains everything. We truly went with no supplies. Regarding the sweat and tennis shoes, I prefer hiking long distances in tennis shoes. My shirt wasn't visibly sweaty because it was raining and fairly cold. Again, please watch the full video to see how we really did go into the backcountry with NO supplies.
If I was backpacking overnight deep some where, even with a few people, I have extra protection in my backpack and some hunter knifes... Also, get some (red) flashlight. Stay safe.
Get a dedicated tourniquet holder (preferably one that holds medical shears too) and mount it on the outside of your pack or on your belt. If you actually need a tourniquet, you need it NOW, not after you dig it out of the first aid kit inside your pack. Every second truly counts when someone is bleeding out. Also, a space blanket is better than nothing, but not by much. It may keep you alive but it definitely won't keep you really warm. If you have to use it, be mentally prepared to be very uncomfortable. Of course, a candle or other small heat source under the space blanket can make it much more pleasant. Nice job with the tips, especially the part about carrying a little more weight to be ready for emergencies. That's excellent advice that many people unfortunately never heed.
