Nice video of a man landing an airplane. A little info as to the field, why you where there, etc. would have been nice. Otherwise, a nice video of a man landing an airplane, just like the other thousand videos of a man landing an airplane. Just saying...

@@dellfonda7544 182 is a great aircraft. I got my PPL in the aircraft from the Video.I've flown it to the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, in all kinds of weather with No autopilot.. Good times!
@dellfonda7544
@dellfonda7544 3 года назад
@@onyx5226 I’m assuming that you became the owner of it before/during your training for PPL so that’s great! Saved some money in the end versus renting! I enjoyed the 182, although as a student pilot adjusting the propeller for desired manifold pressure proved to add to the difficulty. Hopefully I’ll get to fly more actively and get my PPL soon.
@onyx5226
@onyx5226 3 года назад
@@dellfonda7544 My family has owned the airplane for 3 generations, my grandfather purchased it and my father picked it up from the Cessna Factory in 1972 at the age of 22 and has had it ever since. I did pay for avionics upgrades, annuals, maintenance, modifications, interior pieces, and much more...so while i didn't pay much during my PPL training, i've definitely spent more on that airplane than it is worth monetarily over the past couple years. But that airplane has so much sentimental value it'll never be for sale. I will make a video about that at a later date. As for the prop on the 182, it does add a level of difficulty but think of it similar to a manual transmission on a car. When you're on the highway you can shift into gear to "maintain" your speed. In a car when you need to go up a steep hill, you down shift, in an airplane like the 182 if you need to rapidly climb, the prop knob gets pushed in, on a descent the prop knob comes out etc... I used that analogy with my students when i was a flight instructor 10+ years ago. Keep working on your ppl, don't let too much time lapse between lessons. 🤙
@dellfonda7544
@dellfonda7544 3 года назад
@@onyx5226 Wow! I totally understand the desire to keep it airworthy after going through 3 generations in your family. That’s a really awesome story and it’s cool that you are able to fly the same airplane that you did your PPL in. That’s a really good analogy for the prop. I’m not saying it was crazy difficult, but being a zero time student pilot getting thrown into the 182 it just seemed like one more thing to the long list of things to keep me stressed out. It was a lot of fun though! I’m trying to work it out financially to start training and not have to stop so there are no significant gaps in training. For now it’s just studying for the written. Thanks!

+Johnny Rocco i'm not sure who paid to improve it, this was my second time landing here. We're based in California and don't make it out to the Bahamas much so we're not really "in the know" of who owns it .. The runway was smooth and the airport was fenced off and well kept up from what i remember.. this video was taken Dec 31 2015 we were enroute to Nassau from Exuma.
@johnnyrocco

+P _VEEZ You flew a Cessna from Calif to the Bahamas? That had to be some fun. Anyway thanks for answering back. FYI Joe was the drug dealer who ran the island from78 to 82 moving tons of coke into the usa using small aircraft. He got life plus 25 but may get out on day. He may still have some ownership rights on the cay, but who knows. They made a movie about it, Blow. Thanks and be safe in your flying. Did a great job with that crosswind landing by the way.

+Johnny Rocco Yeah we take that airplane everywhere.. i've also seen the movie blow.. one of my favorites, it was the reason i wanted to land there.. i was under the impression the guys name was Carlos but then again i'm not in the drug business lol.. thanks for the kudos on the landing.. you gotta give respect to the guys that fly there everyday as a job. Beautiful scenery though to say the least!

+P _VEEZ Joe was what we called him here in the states. Carlos is his legal name. Not much dope flying going on now days in the islands. Don't need to fly when you can just drive it across the border from Mexico. Moving the dope thru Mexico killed flying jobs for many good old boys here in the deep south USA
