Recent passing's of Kevin Burns (Synthesis) and Gregory (Greg) Jein prompted me to look online for some of this old Lost In Space (LIS) stuff for the first time in almost 20 years and made me realized that not everything lives forever on the internet, as is sometimes said. So, I started uploading LIS stuff here, originally posted on my , now defunct, LIS fansite: Jup2.com , 2005 and also over on www.yourprops.com/ User: Jup2com
The main purpose of this RU-vid channel is to keep this old info/stuff alive, before it fades into oblivion.
The videos are short. The substance is in the detail. By detail, I mean, in the video's 'Read More..'
If only Irwin Allen would've allowed the reunion episode Billy Mumy wrote - at the time, all the original cast was alive & agreed to do it, but Irwin wouldn't have it.
It makes me so happy that these people, who never knew each other, and were thrown together on this little sci fi TV show, all remained friends throughout their entire lives and in many ways remained a family. RIP Guy, Jonathan, Mark, Bobby, Dick and Irwin. Thanks for the memories.
Is the box labeling on front or back any different between the red and yellow light versions. If the box is sealed, how do you know which version you have.
@paulrmatzke298 I've never noticed a difference in the labeling. Since you asked though, I looked again and the only difference I find are the Item Numbers by the UPC Bar Codes on the back. Since I only have one of each I can't say 100% it tells what is inside, but I imagine so. i.postimg.cc/Qtqqhty5/trend-color-2-Jup2.jpg 31267 = Red & 31750 = Yellow. 🛸 Hope this helps 🙂
Me either. Steve told me there was a 'sword' fight scene filmed about 5 or so years ago with the LIS robot, he said 'tv show' though, I found this Ted 2 scene.. Maybe there's another scene out there..? Ted 2 looks pretty hilarious! 🤣
@@ARWest-bp4yb I actually watched this review site when 'scouting' for a robot fight scene ... Kinda like a hi-lights reel for Ted & Ted 2 .. The hosts are pretty funny ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BdvWxm05cmI.html
If you enjoyed this segment, you can now enjoy the FULL Episode of 'Lost In Space: The Epilogue' here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jS6Y_Dunuq4.html
I actually considered shutting it off (Apt complex - tho be it a small one), since it went past 10PM and people were coming and going , I decided not to. I have to shut ALL outside lights off to shut off that one flood. Figured that might result in complaints to property management, and who needs that? Thanks for the comments! Happy 4th!
3:35 .. Yknow, mr Woo. It's in space. There are no doves in space. - yeah, yeah. I know. But I'll find a way. Somehow I will put my signature on this thing! Some how...
Can't argue any of that. Still one of only two ships, only surviving fusion core that I'm aware of (?) , one of one pad & the only 3 gantries .. regardless the condition , I think the 40g estimate is WAY low.... We'll see.
@@ARWest-bp4yb yeah I wonder if Paul will reveal how many layers of bondo are on this miniature? Looks like Greg packed it on. lol. But hey, we've had 40 years to get used to it. I dunno how I'd react to seeing a "perfect" pod dropper...🤔
@@ARWest-bp4yb lol .. It would be interesting to see if he could restore the internals and get them in working order. Especially the Hero for that matter.
I've never actually opened the issues, only viewed the covers. Although I wouldn't go as far as to describe them as revolting (that's an individuals taste) I do agree they certainly were surprising, sort-of shocking and deviated from what we all knew LIS was in the 1960's. But alas it is a form of art, so I leave it to the artist and try not to judge. But I definitely know what you mean. Thank you for your comments.
@@Jup2com I say revolting because it corrupts a childhood memory. If the show was like that, I wouldn't be as shocked. But to take a family program and make it 14A rating is unacceptable. I'm sure you'd agree it would be shocking if I were to buy them for little kids (as the tv show was for all ages) unaware of the content
In all of sci-fi no other sound compares to the engine sound of the Jupiter Two! It's unmatched and has that unearthly, yet immense sound of power! No other ship can match this sound which I can listen to all day! The best sound ever created!
Great seeing Veronica Cartwright in this! I've heard that there was an episode planned in the original series which would have had Veronica making a guest appearance as an alien princess, but for some reason it was scrapped. A shame . I think it would have been great ! Both sisters were beautiful teenage girls at the time, and Veronica's intense but disarmingly charming acting style would have provided a good contrast with Angela's more carefree , spontaneous style.
As far as I undertsand, John Williams wrote both Lost in Space themes, but very little of the incidental music, for which Allen simply lifted music from other sources. I believe the only episode where Williams wrote the full score was "The Keeper" starring Micheal Rennie (not coincidentally one of the series' best episodes (and its only 2 parter)). Also, if I'm not mistaken, most of the in-flight sequence here is the Gemini 12, not the Jupiter 2, the former having no lower deck as is apparent.
It's truly amazing sound effects as well as visual is simply out of this world.Lost In Space Stands tall superior even to this day. Super technology way ahead of its time. The effects of the Jupiter 2 flying through space or across the horizon landings take offs is incredibly realistic. This In 1965! How amazing is that! 👍🌟💫✨🎆🎇
The flashing light you see in the top bubble of the Jupiter 2 filming miniature was created by a rotating mirror set at a 45 degree angle to reflect outward the light from within the model. It was spun by the same motor spinning the fusion core lights. I believe this rotating mirror was supposed to represent the Astrogator up inside the top bubble.
And in The Derelict , when the Jupiter 2 takes-off to leave and slowly rotates around to exit and faces the camera, there is a gap above the back-lit scrim and the ceiling where for a few seconds you can see the motion and light flickering from within the miniature. I believe it's the only time we ever see this gap, the rest of the times the scrim reaches the ceiling. ru-vid.comUgkxl2WufiW0CmnusWc_y5c7My85gUqF-H96?si=psJ4VPvgOKtrkmqw
Diabolical dwarfs! The very first time I ever saw a color TV we went over to my uncles house for a party one night and he had just bought a new color TV and on it was, no kidding, The Great Vegetable Rebellion! I'll never forget that. I only watched a few minutes of it. There were so many people there and so much was going on,.. it was my favorite TV show and it was on color TV! and I could have cared less. It was a party, man! and it was the 1960s. Who's gonna miss out on that?
Great story! 😄Even not knowing then that there would come to be VHS, DVD , Blu-ray & TV syndication years later, I think you still made the right choice back then. 😉 And TGVR!! Ouch! lol 🥕
They don't always remember such details as set dressing some 50 years after the fact, but yes, that'd be great to do. If you ask one of them, lemme know what they have to say. 👍
Not only is it the Jupiter 2 , I'll go as far as to decipher it's the Hero Jupiter 2 , because when Greg Jein saved the pod-dropper J2 from the Fox trash bin, we see that it still had it's reddish paint from it's use in City Beneath The Sea. This 4ft Jupiter 2 is all silver in 1979, so for that reason it is not only the Jupiter 2 , it is the Hero Jupiter 2. It's been common knowledge for 30+ years that the Jupiter 2 model from LIS was used in the show, Soap. And here it is. 👍
I tuned in for this, as it said blast off scene. Like the entire lame series, way too much of that homo-smithian character. F that. Can you believe that this trash came out the same time as Star Trek?
