Years ago I had the licence to trap over in Hertfordshire, I now live in leysdown, Kent and would love to start again, poor man's lobster we used to call them, would easily catch 100 plus in couple of hours
This video isn’t doing it for my at all i bought every thing 3 times now for my hobie lynx an for some reason I never have what i need every god damn time I’m so frustrated I could burn the dam kayak and not give a shit fish finder has been totally hell for me thanks a lot every body’s advice is all bullshit I hate this kayak fish finder bull shit so god dam frustrating the hell with it all
Does each Lowrance plotter require a card to be purchased individually ?? Or can one card provide map data to other units connected via NEMA / ethernet ?
Fancy making this trip again any time soon? Recently fished off the rocks for wrasse with a local it was great fun. Really keen to get the kayak out from that side of the bay, only gone out from Beesands to limited success.
Hi @lurekayaklrf - it’s a super stretch of coast, but conditions have to be calm, which doesn’t happen too often in the uk plus I live a long way away so don’t fish there as often as I would like
Gave this a try for the first time Friday. Lovely place when the weather is right. Lure only, Just had mackerel, some nice ballan and corkwing, small pout and gobies. Was day after a spring so will have to try on a smaller tide. Also had a seal that wouldnt leave me alone!
It has performed really well. I am in the process of applying the same keeleazy to another boat at the moment. I kind of assumed that the adhesive would give, and it would start to peel off, but it has stayed on perfectly
Why do you throw away the heads and shells ???.Put them in the freezer and when you have a big enough bag you can make the most delicious stock. Then cook the crayfish in the stock.
Hi, thanks for the videos on the Lynx! What do you think it’s cost to get the hull protection up to a satisfactory standard? I love the idea of it being lightweight but a bit wary of it getting damaged. Also, do you think it’s safe enough to do a bit of coastal fishing? I’m really torn at the moment between the Lynx and the Passport/Compass. Cheers Pete
Hi Pete - thanks for the comment… the cost of the protection was minimal (Berley Bumper Bro and some protective strips) when compared to the cost of the Lynx. I have used the Lynx for lots of inshore saltwater fishing trips. It performed really well - I added an anchor trolley to the Lynx as well. All in all, the Lynx has been outstanding - I also own 2 Hobie Outbacks and a Hobie Revolution. Since I have owned the Lynx I hardly ever use the Outbacks and Revi. It is lighter and quicker than both of them, and more stable. I wouldn’t want to be out in it, if it was rough, but then I wouldn’t want to be out in my outback (or any other kayak for that matter) if it was rough.
You need an Environment agency permit for any particular stretch of water (CR1) and permission from the landowner. Only non-native species can be taken and must not be returned to the water. The permit needs the NGR (grid ref) for the upstream and downstream limits of where you want to trap. Gloucestershire canals do not permit trapping as I found out well into the process.
Hello, Thanks for this video!! Question, can you build a track to fish on your phone from home, and then transfer it or sync it to the Lowrance HDS Live 12? I know you can with Garmin, but how can us Lowrance users do this? Thanks again!
Yes, for native uk crayfish… these are invasive American signal crayfish, and it is legal to take them if you have a licence, which I do. It’s all in the video
@@kestutismarkevicius3264 Even if there non native mate, the American signal carries a crayfish plague that is deadly to native species. the problem is this plague can be transferred by boots/wet equipment and you might involuntary infect other lakes. Best to just get a licence to trap and kill them on the bank then take them home to eat. a lot of people will tell you " there invasive who cares" but that can actual makes things worse, which is why you need a licence in the first place so they can track the movements :P
What size keel tape did you use, never mind. I see you did say the 2 inch width and 6m to do the whole boat I’m guessing . Your lynx looks great! Nice job
Thanks Chris, it was the first time we had been cat fishing in the kayaks, and we wanted to treat the fish properly, but the kayak presents a whole bunch of challenges which we did not predict or fully appreciate. We learned alot and I think if we ever try again, the procedure should be quicker.
Charlie - I ordered them online from Navarre website, and they were sent from the US. But I went back on the website recently, and it didn’t appear to work for UK orders :-(
Just to let you know you should pull out the middle but if the tail just give it a twist and pull it gets out the intestines (poo sack) that part your also eating in the tail
Hi Dizzy last trip I had a bit of an experiment. A short length of mono 7inches on back of spinner, size 12 super specialist tipped it with two red maggots. Then tried squid . Both caught
I think there is alot to learn about TLM Garry. Red is definitely an important colour for them. I'm already looking forward to fishing for them this year.
@@dizzyfish hopefully see you there again, I have found mullet fascinating since I was a boy. Thick lipped under my dads boat. Just Seemed impossible to catch back then. Of course they often still can be at times 😅.
Just checked my Lynx which is almost a year old. I seem to need the same Keeleasy protection spots that you are protecting. Would you share the width you used and the length of each of the pieces?
Nice set rig dude! Was wondering how you did the anchor trolley. Was that standard hull protector strips underneath or Berkely stuff too? Seen another second hand Revo 11 for £1600 on disgrace book today and have given it a lot of thought, but the Lynx is still making me hesitate. Rounding up the numbers, the Outback is 40kg, the Revo is 30kg and the Lynx is 21kg. Half the weight and much less tippy than the Revo. It's killing me!
Thanks Charlie. I used hull protector strips underneath, and then used a BerleyPro bumper bro on the bow, which also provides a bit of protection… the two mods in combination seem to be doing a good job so far. I still have the Revo 11, and if I didn’t have the lynx, it would be my go to for freshwater, and I still love it. But like you say, the Lynx is just so blooming light, and I’m not getting any younger!
thinking of seriously getting into pike kayak fishing and sea fishing kayaking.didnt know you could use your own kayak at llangorse.would you be able to tell me how much for day ticket with your own kayak. thinking of buying old town or hobie could you tell me where other guy bought old town in the uk and where best Hobie dealers in the uk.
Hi Terry - A day ticket and launch pass for kayak fishing at Llangorse currently costs £21.50 - you can book it online. Make sure you get a bit of training and don't forget all of the safety gear if you are thinking of taking up kayak fishing. I purchased my Hobie kayak at the Shore Thing Hobie center based right on the beach at Poole. Great place, as you can try before you buy - Steve and Kris are great help and have been advising kayak fishermen for a long time.
I will drop one off 😂 Think that was the correct choice… I thought he was going to cry when he saw it was a single fun size twix… felt sorry so gave him the bonus penguin
I guess with all kayaks there has to be a compromise. I love how light the Lynx is, and I guess if they had made it tougher, then it would have increased the weight. I've subjected my Lynx to alot of abuse in both rivers and saltwater over the last 15 months.... the addition of the BumperBro and the KeelEazy strips I added have definitely made a big difference
Good times! Thanks for taking the time to do the edit and that’s so cool that you captured the otter on camera. In this current age of live stream news feeds, it’s actually really nice to see a vid pop up from a time that now seems so long ago. Sorry your chub didn’t count 😅
Thanks Charlie - I was looking out the window at the wind and rain last weekend, and happened to find a clip from that trip... watching it, really cheered me up, and it took me back to the happy days of summer. So I decided to make the vid. It does seem like such a long time ago. I'm already looking forward to meeting up for next year's mayfly hatch. Did you see the speed with which that chub tore across the stream when I released it... let's hope the otter didn't catch it!
