Change the pitch of the prop so your rpms will climb faster. If its a 13 pitch put a 12 on it it will give you qicker rpm under laod and change it out for type of use
Been looking for anouther center council I like small boats I have no need for a big boat I like that its aluminum I had alotbof nicks in fiberglasd I fisg salt water and love the flats and I think I would havrvto put a spottet deck on mine but that would be it I don't travel far either and my last boat had a merc 90 it was a hell of a motor I think I would likr to go one step bigger with a jack plate like 100 so bigger motor and spotting deck love your boat....is the trailer good reg tires not those small tires I do travel 200 miles to the coast....stero is cool but yeah just a port waterproof speaker easy to ......less shit to mess with the better for me ..........Bad ass boat.
Looking at an 18x60 open tracker but it has a 40hp merc jet pump. Would that be to under powered for 3 guys duck hunting? Thanks great video, tight lines!
I have a quick question, my husband and I are currently doing a build similar to yours and we cannot get the green piece on the shaft…. Our has a gap as well. How did y’all get the key to be adjusted? Shave it? The video didn’t say that part to my knowledge.
If you run your equipment in salt water just spray it down with something like wd40 before you go out and when you get back wash the heck out of it and spray it again with the lubricant and you can make it last for years…
Do you regret not getting the 2072 because I’m between your boat with the 90hp and the 2072 with the 150hp I just don’t think the 2072 is worth the extra $10k
I'm looking at the Grizzly 1860 as my next boat. Love how wide it is. BUT. This is what I know about aluminum boats and salt water. If your trailer has carpeted bunks, you WILL have issues with electrolysis. The carpet will hold salt and no amount of running it through a car wash will get it out. And the issue with electrolysis is you can't see it happening, It will set up where the carpeted bunks contact the hull. It'll start out with pin hole leaks. The problem with electrolysis is it will take what should be a lifetime hull and shorten it to 10 to 20 years. The good news is all you need to do is take the carpet off the bunks. Aluminum boats don't need carpet anyway. If you fell you need something between the hull and the bunks, get some Glyde Slicks from Taco Marine.
Hey man, please add something about Duralux in a description that can be searched. I have an embarrassingly amount of You-Tube research hours into my own project and there seems to be some sort of preventative filter for the cheapest marine paint available. Everything else is twice as much. Thank-you for making this.
Awesome vid I am doing close to the same project and I got the same paint and spray gun before I start painting I was wondering what primer you used and did you use paint thinner for the spray gun ?
If I remember right it was just a basic primer I used and I used a little paint thinner with the paint because it was pretty thick. I would just add a little at a time until the right consistency.
Thanks for the video man been looking at this boat alot and im about to go to Cabelas and order the same boat. What i love the most about this boat is that it is rated for 7 passengers. I like the 60hp because its lighter then the 90. Never been on one is it quiet? Does it handle good if its choppy out? How many passengers have you had on? I love that boat its simple and lolks to be heavy duty.
I have fished 4 on it very comfortable. 7 may get pretty tight lol. Not gonna lie, I love the 60 on it. Me and another guy went a mile or so out in the ocean a few weeks ago and caught several fish. When it gets pretty choppy, this boat will allow some spray to come over the bow but it’s not terrible as long as you trim the motor right and keep the front up. Also the motor is super quiet!
Put a speaker on each side of console and put the amp under the console. Run Aura Opt7 LED lights under the track systems, upgrade to the 90 horse and get a 4 blade 18 or 19P Stainless prop, seadek the front and back decks, put an ATV tool box bolted to the rear deck as a driver seat and weld up a back brace for it and turn it basically into a leaning post like on any bay boat and then get a lid and back cushion upholstered for it, and then upgrade to a 36V 112lb riptide i-pilot with dakota lithium batteries powering everything on the boat to save weight. Upgrade to a new Lowrance HDS9 in the dash and then another one up front.
From experience running these Thai long tails you want to run that motor the lowest you can get it so get rid of that wooden transom raiser trust me it’s gonna run a lot more better you want that motor to ride half way out of the water to throw a rooster tail also one other thing when you have people or a load in that boat you want to distribute that weight to get optimal performance out of that engine also if you are having any trouble with the motor running out of the wake it’s making try bending your skeg the way it’s trying to escape or if it’s trying to go upwards there’s bolt holes it’s connected to the frame try moving it back a hole at a time until it’s where you like it at an if that doesn’t help beaver dam mud runners carry’s planning tabs I had to do that to my kit but now I run a mudskipper featherlite surface drive so much faster an easier to drive I hope this helps for you guys goodluck this upcoming hunting season these motors are absolute beasts I hope you like your swamp runner
Looking at the same boat bit older 2008 and it has the 40 merc 4 stroke .Would it be enough power.I do local lakes and rivers and never big nasty water
Yea I think you would be fine. Normally that’s what they come with. That 40hp would run you and couple buddies high twenties to low 30s if I had to guess.
@@FURREVEROUTDOORS I have been calling around to Bass pro and they said none of them ever came with a 40 but they were not working there back in 08 which is the year of this one .Im a bit nervous it wont be enough and id be stuck .
