Carbons don’t require maintenance. I often don’t oil mine and it’s absolutely fine after even a few days. If you’re very on the ball, you can wash, dry and wd40 on it, takes 10 seconds more that a stainless to clean, which is simply oiling it.
@NiktheEnglishGreekCypriot
@NiktheEnglishGreekCypriot Месяц назад
Carbon steel all the way. My 13 inch is a weapon. So much nicer to use than stainless, also the rust doesn’t matter. Quick wash and dry it, wd40 on it if you have it to hand, but if you don’t it’s not the end of the world. I’ve got 2 13 inchers, one completely broke in and sharp as a knife, and a second one I’m breaking in also got an 18x4 for big reveals, trying to get it sharp enough to use trowelling up instead of any flex trowels

I learnt the hard way get to work do your job and then go on your phone as much as you want in your own time. Remember whos reaping the benefits ot aint you pal. Waist of time & money. You have already fully taped it. (With a lamb chop by the looksof it) why not just sand the taping & paint it. Iv done hundreds if not in the thousands of houses/ commercials over the yrs. With mo issues. Having to sand complete wall too is crazy. I seen it yrs ago in aberdeen. Theory was 1 less coat of white paint. Reinventing the wheel.

I had this problem and customer called me back due to a bathroom mirror light that shined at the back of the mirror. Looked atrocious 😅. Explained that it was glancing light and they weren’t having it. Everywhere looked great other than that one wall around the mirror. Opted to paper it in the end to resolve it. Absolute nightmare these mirror and lights are nowadays. Glad I’m not the only one. I don’t deem to be the best plasterer I get by and do a decent job but this one really got me down!

@cykboy3254

all plaster will crumble if you try mount things to it, you are supposed to drill through into the brick and the plug goes into the brick not just the plaster. try bigger plugs

@@joejames6696 Your welcome. Keep in mind that I coach newly self employed lads and help them to get their plastering business set up and get work coming in for free using Google and video marketing strategies. This will save you thousands on Mybuilder and Checkatrade. Most of my members have spent an average of 3k with checkatrade when they join and after 2 months they can bin checkatrade off and go full organic with no marketing costs. It's a game changer. I also help with the job management and organisation / communication side and dealing with customers as this is a big struggle for many trades lads. If I'm honest getting work for me is the easy part. Keeping all the balls in the air and making sure job bookings don't crash is where you need the training and the guidance so that you get repeat business over and over and continuously get 5 star reviews coming in.. The reviews are the KEY mate. Customer service is key. More info: bit.ly/48JNQmz

Your spot on pal! I worked flat out like dick head for about 20 odd years! And I used to experience burn out all the time. I’ve been through many things in my life, with dependency issues. The start of this year way I think the 10-15th time is been in hospital and it only hit home when the consultant said to me, if you keep going through life like this. It will kill you! Right there and then, the penny dropped. Since then I’ve buried the business’s and made a new start. I just work the hours required and make a point of not working no much. As you rightly put I was working flat out for a life style was just bollox! Fair play to ya big respect for the video, top man! Everything you said was bang on! 😎👍

38 years in the trade and i jacked and got a maintenance job. Everything you said i agree with but one. I know you can't control who phones you as its random based on recommendation or if you live in the local area. I have a mate that's a session musician and he always talks about getting the lucrative gigs. They don't exist imo. Just jobs. All paying the going rate which is the minimum they can get someone that has the skills to do it. I don't shop at Waitrose, I shop at Aldi. If i won the lottery id still shop at Aldi. JMO. Others may disagree. Good video though. Very knowledgeable.

Its very hard to say no to a job as they say.. End of the day no one gives a stuff about you, builders clients other trades if you dropped dead tomorrow they would be asking ah shame whos going to finish job now.. Great advice, good tip is ask customer send whats app video save your evenings running around, use customers deposits to help cashflow, also get business visa cards its a free overdraft.

As a retired plasterer now - I can verify You're Spot-On! - I was a workaholic - Not for the money, because that came as a by-product of Me looking at the game as a Sport!! ... I needed to be the Gold Medal Plaster on every site I worked on - The Fastest & Best! ... Generally I was - But then you find yourself in too much demand by contractors who need the houses bumped out at speed 'and' a qualty job. You chase your tail trying to please everyone! But of course you can't - And then you retire with a broken body and no-one gives a Toss! ... So you young'uns out there - Replay this video as often as you can - It'll be the most important lesson in your plastering career you'll ever make - Unless of course! It is just a Sport! 🤨🤠

ARE YOU A WORKAHOLIC? As self employed men we are in danger of becoming workaholics. This isn't some click bait tag line this is FACTS. Many of us believe by working longer and harder we are growing our business but in reality we are just burning ourselves out and leaving no energy left for the people that matter to us most.. Our families, our kids, our wives. If you plan on being the best husband and dad you can be then you need energy and time to do that. Being at work 6 or 7 days a week grafting on the tools non stop will hurt your relationships. Take it from someone who knows. Avoid the self employment trap by creating boundaries and rules with customers and also having a 'switch off' button so that you stop taking your work stress into the family home. Increase your income and target better jobs by learning how to screen new enquiries, specialising and building your reputation and attracting great customers who respect your time instead of tyre kickers and price hagglers. This allows you to cut down your working hours while increasing earnings. 80p is all you need to start your coaching journey making this program the most cost effective and easily accessible training course ever made for self employed plasterers & tradespeople. @@Ruthlesscoach Simple solution, Offer to do FREE Venetian plastering for your customers. Start with friends and family. This will give you an opportunity to practice and also gather images and videos for your portfolio. It will also build your confidence. Once you get a few jobs under your belt you will also know how long a wall will take you to complete and how much it will cost which will help you to give an accurate price when you do come to charge. So there's value in offering free work to clients. If you need further help and guidance on starting and running a successful, profitable plastering business I have a coaching program that will walk you through each step and teach you how to start, build, and market your business for free using organic strategies. There is no other training program on the planet for plasterers that offers this level of support and coaching for just 80p per day cancel anytime.
