The Liz and Dave Beebe Camillus Erie Canal Park is located at the historic location of Camillus Landing, a stop along both the original Erie Canal and the Enlarged Erie Canal. Located on 420 acres, the park features a replica of Sims Store, now a museum with many artifacts and historical photos from the Enlarged Canal era and present-day Barge Canal. On the property are three retired boats, four working boats, a sulky derrick stump puller, and other artifacts from the canal eras. Two unique features of the park are an original lock gate from Gere Lock, and a restored aqueduct, the only navigable one in all of NY state. Boat rides on the Enlarged Canal and the aqueduct are available May to October on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons. There are 14 miles of hiking, biking and dog walking trails, including a trail to an overlook of the prism of Clinton’s Ditch, the first canal started in 1817.
