In real life I would have duct taped and wired the damn bio scanner to the turret on my srv, so I could pulse scan longer distances from the SRV. But frontier often struggles with practical versus game balance. Don't get me wrong I LOVE pokemon go with space ships... But the job would be more fun and smoother going if they gave us some better instrumentation to find stuff.
Render distance is about a 1km sphere, around your ship, for most biologics (with a few exceptions). Render speed probably varies with device performance. I am on a dinosaur machine but I creep along between 60 and 100 m/s and usually get a good render. 200 to 300 meters is usually a good cruise altitude.
I'm new to cotw and thinking of starting a grind as I can't find diamonds. I got 5 trolls in a row of different species. I have silver Ridge, medved, savannah, reventoli, layton. Which species is the easiest to grind?
I find the buffalo species easiest to get diamonds. You can pretty much run them down and take out entire herds if you're persistent because they're pretty slow. I usually just take my Sundberg and run after them until I get them all. That said, most of my time so far has been running around maps unlocking them, not focusing so much on trophies, so take that with a grain of salt.
"Seriously can we stop planting onto the ground?". Nope, that's the best part of exo-bio trying to nail that perfect landing for satisfaction amongst the repetitive boredom.
This perfectly illustrates that massive differences between players. I personally don't get any satisfaction out of figuring out a landing. It's just pure tedium on top of the rest of the tedium.
Hey if your trying to save time when using DSS, you can start flying towards planet right after you launch the probes- Wasn't sure if you knew, I do it all the time lol
@@Gunthrek ahh yeah I see, but even if you get much closer you can still see close to half the planet and choose a landing spot, give it a try if you want lol
Honestly, each carrier owner seems to have a different opinion on that. I don't really have enough experience with it yet to know where I fall on that.
Nice vids mr. Gunthrek, cheers! Small hint i case you don't know about it: You can toggle combat mode and explorer mode to find better landing spots for your ship. o7 commander
I'm an origonal backer of Elite and I've always found that ED YT creators introduce me to a lot of things I'd never have seen before. Looking ar your channel I'm now googling American truck Simulator. Never heard of it before. ED really does attract all kiinds of people.
13:16 The most jarring entry into a system I've seen. Looks like you might have flown through two stars and dropped between the other binary pair. 🤩🤩😱 Also funny how the renovation story just dies and goes into like 40 seconds of silence and confusion.
1st footfall is show in the system map. Click on the planet, its in the info (top tab) 3rd tab down, Planetary information, shows features (so amount of Bio or geological signals)
Flying the ship being something you have to 'get good at' is more fun, for me. I love the using the skill of learning to manually land. I get wanting an 'easy flight switch'. I can go for having that available. I do wish 'trading' was easier. I HATE grinding. That's the original reason I quit the game prior to Odyssey. You popping up in my feed with this Carrier feed, is the one reason I'm seriously considering reinstalling it.
Glad the video inspired you to consider getting back into the game! I'm all about maximum options. People who want difficulty should be able to get it. People who don't should have options to mitigate it.
@@Gunthrek I agree, to an extent. I agree in terms of things like basic ship flight. Advanced combat or mining/exploration? Eh, not so much. But I'm pretty sure we are on the same page here. Again, my problem with the game and why I left (I started before the first expansion, maybe before official release, I'm not sure) is all the grinding. Do X Y times to get Z. The mission generation was monotonous and repetitive.
