Might I suggest that it would be a good idea to flush out the cooling system, radiator, hoses engine etc and instal fresh coolant while you have gone this far also a good coat of High Temperature paint on the exhaust might help keep it from rusting up again! Thanks
Did anyone ever tell you NOT to polish your saddle? If you do you tend to slide all over the saddle whilst riding! Also there is a kitchen cleaner called ELBOW GREASE, WHICH IS VERY GOOD AT CLEANING DIRTY MOTORCYCLE BITS!!! Well done waiting for the next episode!!!
Excellent. I've had two of these bikes, done 300,000 kms on them between them. Still have one in my garage. It's going to be my restoration project when I retire from work in one year's time. Watching your videos is very motivating for me.
In all seriousnes, that is her bike. Whoever bought it from you painted it completly with Zink spray and black paint and ripped the bolt off the holds the waterpump wheels 😅

Quick question hoping someone can answer I just bought a 1980 xt250 didnt come with battery, all light light up and turn signals when running. Stupid question do I need a battery? and if yes why and will it keep charging as I run motorcycle? sorry im a rookie with motorcyles!
Thank you for your comment. It seems like your bike has an batterie eliminator, works with magnetism. Its a kind of transistor, that uses the energy from the running engine to fuel the electricity. But theres only power when running. Seems healthy to me
If you have to do a job like this again, I can recommend the following. Get a die grinder, and then look for 3M scotch brite coarse cleaning discs. I don't know if google translated got that right. in German this means: 3M scotch brite Grobreinigungsscheiben. That will save you a lot of work and sweat in the future! Regards from Berlin.. ;-)
Hello, do you know what light regulation the valves have and to what torque the cylinder rods are tightened, I am restoring an xt and I need to know that
Nice video, on the fuel tap, there’s a little hole on it. This is visible at 03:12 of the video and the hole is at the top. I was wondering is there a pipe attached to that as my dad and I are restoring his CB500 and when the engine shuts off, fuel spurts out of it for a second. Do you think it could be the rubber seal inside?
Wow! coole Yamaha! Ich bekam 1980 von meiner Großtante eine DT 175 geschenkt, nagelneu. Beste Zeiten damals. Ich war stolz wie Bolle. Leider hat die Yamaha nur ein paar Jahre überlebt damals.
im looking at one too; can get it relatively cheap (it belongs to my boss) , but it will take some time, love and replacement to get it to former glory. tnx fora tear down, will deff make my life easier once i start tearing one down . cheers.
Hallo, ich hatte mehrere KLR 650 über die letzten 25 Jahre, auch eine Tengai. Die liefen alle sehr gut! Nur die KLX 650 machte immer Probleme mit dem Vergaser. Nicht empfehlenswert!
