We get a lot of people watching these videos who were either born at 97th Gen. Hospital or they had their kids there. Thanks for sharing that you were one of them.
I’ve never been to this train station, I transfer in few days from there to the airport. I’m so glad I came across your video because I only have 10 minutes in between transfer! You’re a life saver! Thanks so much!
It is a dead end station, so if you can make your way to the front of the train, or at least be ready by the door when the train stops, it will make your transfer easier.
@@frankfurtonfoottours2361 I went there often for plane spotting and ever since it’s always not crowded and not busy, but it is considered one of the busiest airport in Europe. I wonder how come it is always not crowded if its one of the busiest. Or maybe its because the design is so efficient and well structured. Terminal 2 is also one of the airport that the arrival area is not separate from departing passengers
Thank you for sharing this video 👍 I was stationed at Drake Kaserne from 88-90. There was a German Pub just outside of the Kaserne where an older lady, Kitty, was a waitress. She had waited on Elvis Presley when he was stationed on the Edwards side of the street. Was also a big fan of Da Angelo's pizza restaurant up the road. Sure miss those days.
Of course you can stay at the airport, it is an open space to the public. though 6 hours is a long time to wait. You could come into the city for a short visit with 6 hours waiting time.
@@frankfurtonfoottours2361 I'll be arriving very late at night sadly, otherwise I would've loved to explore the city :( Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me and for your amazing videos!
Was stationed there from 90 to 93 thank you for the video. Looks very familiar and different at the same time. Like to see the barracks and the mess hall. Miss Camp King
I think those buildings have been torn down and replaced with new apts. now. I worked at the snack bar in the bowling alley until April 1990, and was very pregnant then.
Thank you for sharing this. I lived in the long building in Edwards across from the church when I was stationed there in 1976 to 1979. I'm surprised the D'Angelos was still there. I enjoyed living in Frankfurt.
You can never comment too much. Luckily, RU-vid has a huge selection of music to use for free, so I just see if I can find something that matches the video. On my Camino for Everyone channel, have found some great medieval music for the churches.
I am all in for the virtual tour. I was stationed at Drake Kaserne (69-72), Fulda Downs Barracks (75-78), Frankfurt Hurst (80-83), Augsburg (87-89), Hanua (89-94). Loved t he Volks Marches on the weekends. The food, the beer, the culture, it was all good.
I note that a lot of people are carrying crossbody bags or schoolbags on one shoulder instead of purses -- interesting. Wondering if they are locals or visitors...
I was stationed at Drake Kaserne from September 1969 to August 1972. Geez! Amazing how things have changed since that time. I lived in the barracks there. Yelp it was home for 3 years. I work in the motor pool which was on the back side of the kaserne. 3rd Divsion Hq was there. I recall a small bowling alley, a small px, a movie theater and a enlisted club. I rember the 143rd Signal Battaion was on Edwards. There was a snackbar t here and a refueling station for military vehicles. I recall the housing on Edwards was huge. There was a dispensery on Edwards for sickcall. Anyway, you video brought back many memories for me. I remember the Tic Tac Club across from Drake and I and lots of other GI's hanged out there back in the day.
Wow, what a lot of wonderful memories to share. I think I worked at the snack bar at Edwards for about a week in 1987? Not long enough to make any memories.
The river at dusk brought back fond memories of my mother's side of the family and being cold, tired (from a day of fun), covered in mud and waiting for the adults to finish fishing so we could go home.
Drake Edward's 1985! But went to Hanau American H.S. Class of 85!😊, Hey nice job on the video! So much has changed not much left to go visit!!!! Thank you !
@@frankfurtonfoottours2361 I mean to ask what the German word for scarf is and what is the German word for foulard? How do I ask for one or the other? I just learned that scarf in German sounds like shawl in English but I don't know what a foulard or an ascot or a cravat or a neck gaiter or a bolo tie etc are.in German. I am asking because in the video you showed a booth selling scarves.
Wow what a change, I was stationed at Gibbs for 18 Mos 1983-84. 284th M.P. Co. 709th Battalion. I could see 97th General Hospital out my window. Fond memories of eating pommel frittes and curry wurst from the front gate stand.
Hi, thanks for the video! I was wondering, in this occasion, were you in transit from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1? Because I would have to do that later for my transit from Frankfurt to Vancouver!
