0:06 People think this is the quickest yellow card ever but I personally witnessed what will always be the fastest ever booking. That was when Carlo Corazzin of Cambridge United was booked for time wasting when he refused to kick-off at the start of a match against Lincoln because he didn't think the opposition players were within their rights to charge into the centre circle before the ball had been touched. The referee didn't agree, wrongly thinking that they were allowed to charge at the ball as soon as he blew his whistle, and showed the Cambridge striker a yellow card!
The following season I saw Alan Brazil and John Wark in the café at Piccadilly train station after they had played Man Utd (and won :-)). Doubt whether you would see Premiership footballers like that now.
See you at Wembley City fans. I can honestly say, as a Sunderland fan, that you lot are the bestfans we get on with. March 2nd will be a laugh with good banter. No matter the result. (Hopefully going our way mind! ;))
I am so pleased that in my life time I can say I saw all these teams, these greats like Osgood, Bell, Cooke, Lee, and so on, What really must confuse any young fan watching, NO DIVING
Great action. City were League Champions having pipped United (thankfully) the previous season and West Brom were F.A.Cup holders having beaten Everton (thankfully) at Wembley in May 1968.
I've always been jealous of my dad watching this team when he was younger, although I can't complain too much seeing as what is happening right now Blue Moon Rising
I was there, aged 12 in the Lower Bullens Road. Memorable for the hubris of the home fans (me among them) singing We Shall Not Be Moved *before* the kick-off (trying to summon up the spirit of the 6th-round tie vs Ipswich a year earlier, I s'pose), Ratcliffe getting sent off for headbutting Tommy Hutchinson and Imre Varadi missing several chances to wrap it up at 2-1, including an open goal after intercepting a back pass. I don't think I've seen this footage since the day!
Tueart, Francis, Reeves... City didn't have another attacking trio like that until... Silva, Aguero and Negredo! 'Cept Negredo's better than Reeves, obviously. Sadly, Tueart did his ACL next home game, Francis pissed off to Sampdoria and 30 years of rubbish began... :( Real similarities between Francis and Aguero for me, both are deceptively strong and physical as well as skilful.
I was at that game. Best never had a chance of getting the ball and should have been sent off, not just booked. Today he would definitely have got a red card.
thanks for posting this. I was there with my dad and i still remember it like it was yesterday! Ricky villas goal still gives me goosebumps. Youngsters nowadays dont realise the FA CUP was THE competition.
I'm a Leeds fan that was in the kop and the City fans on here are correct, a small group of City came in and showed their colours just before kick off (sort of bottom right looking towards the pitch). They didn't last long but fair play to them. Always a good ding dong with City home and away back then.
awesome! great side back then and we beat Liverpool without Tueart ,m Hartford and Bell, one to treasure considering Liverpool were so dominant and would go on to beat us so often
