Oh tosh!, who would be threatened by a woman holding a violin?? LOL. U want threatening, view a Hiefetz master class.......well things have changed. Another excellent tutorial. Thankyou as always Professore. Im 1 year and 10 months playing , avg 3 hrs per day using your tutelage as the basis for my practice routines. Im pleased with my progress so far. (ok i missed 5 sessions due to illness) If i miss a day practice, i can notice a slip. If I miss 2 days, my audience notices!. Ok I lifted that from a Hiefetz interview) Thankyou again. - "tar tar" as we say in the brooklyn accent. "Tah Tah" being the more proper :)
Hello Professor! In one of your hour long streams, you talked about a book on visual practice (practicing violin without its physical presence), i cannot find that section in your streams. So can you please tell me the name of the book? A good recommended book on visual practice of violin
As a beginner i never heard my violin ringing so well after watching this video, that low Eb blown my mind away... I just feel that it is a different type of resonance from the one I'm used to listening to, it doesn't seem to come from the strings themselves, but from the instrument itself! (For example with the sixth D-B(flat or not) I expected to hear the D string vibrate out of sympathy, but that G with the major sixth and that Eb with the minor sixth do not seem to come from the vibration of the G string, it is a sound I had never heard!). Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos❤🇮🇹
I believe I understand some of these difficulties because I've been practising the attaqué and its really hard to start a note quickly without bouncing the bow when it starts away from the string. What I noticed is that I had to memorize the position just above the strings (as if I was playing in the air), so I first land the bow in that "fictional" position, and just when I land the bow on the string I relax my hand (as said in the video its holding the full weight of the bow, so its tense) to kind of rest on the string and it helps me reduce the bouncing. But its not easy!...
Professor Julia! I very love your video like I do absolutely always! But I have a question, my teacher is "franco-belgian" but I think it is not the best. I really like the russian bow grip, I think every best violinist always used it (atleast in training!). You know it was WIENIAWSKI HIMSELF who invented it, and he shared all the secrets in ST PETERSBURG conservatory! I really wish I was born in Russia and would have had the chance to learn from the BEST!
Подскажите, пожалуйста, что сделать при болях в указательном пальце правой руки? Мой друг либо сильно давил на смычок, либо пиццикато неправильно играл. Теперь ему больно держать смычок и ни один из врачей не может понять что делать.
Thank yo very much. After endless search, finally someone saw all my problems and answered them, the pain from rising shoulder, i like the sound and vibration without SR, but my neck is long, I was wondering whether it is because they have short neck, my favourite violinists don't use SR i always feel very uncomfortable without it, i have tried many times to remove it, i will accept my situation, use a SR
I was wondering if you could make a video about relaxing our shoulders when we play? I developed a bad habit of using my shoulder a lot when I am bowing and I can can't seem to relax it when I play. Do you have any suggestions or techniques? I am struggling with this!
Such great and thorough advice - thank you! Some teachers advise not to touch the index finger on the side of the fingerboard at all and to have a gap here ie to only have contact with the thumb and finger that is on the fingerboard. Personally I touch the fingerboard as you suggest but are there any advantages/disadvantages with this no-contact approach?
I have a problem wd my pinky(( I play the violin.. n my pinky is short and never stays round, it falls wd click n pain..and fingers get numb.. doctor said to take rest.. but it never helps and I need to work :((( any suggestion?
