Theres a moment in the film where a man shakes the main charecters hand and say that the army he's signing up to "made me the man I am today" then it shows that he's lost a hand and a leg. Thats the moment the whole film clicked for me 😂
I’m reading Sacred Stone right now, one of the customers that comes to my work brought me a copy. I was unaware that it is part of a sequel, I’m going to have to see if he has the first book now. Thanks for the info. God bless brother 🙏
It’s a movie making fun of the book it’s based on. That’s the short version. The author genuinely believed that we would be better off ruled by military authority. The society depicted was actually his genuine ideal world. The costumes and designs were deliberately reminiscent of… well let’s just say 30s and 40s German military to show how awful the human society really is and how fascist the society is.
Its about killing space bugs...also they do show you a pair of tits but it ain't the pair of tits you wanted to see. Favorite quotes. "Kill em, kill em all!". "Agh, Rico! Rico, you know what to do!" Gunshot. Its an awesome movie. I get the whole just blast em from space but they also wanted to capture a brain bug to study it. For no other reason than to understand how it works and see if they cant develop that information into psychic weapon or mental control of the people
Check out RedLetterMedia's Re:View of Starship troopers. At a basic level the film is "big guns, bugs go splat" but there's far more if you scratch the surface, all the pro-war adults in the beginning have very visible scars of war, missing limbs and eyes etc. Humans almost certainly started the war by expanding into the bugs space, and the "dumb bugs" have some very intelligent space fairing capabilities.
Nice video and good question. The nexus was always kind of confusing. Like why a ship couldnt fly into it but it could come to a planets surface and just scoop you up. That whole side of it felt very contrived. And if you can leave the nexus anytime, why not leave weeks earlier and stop Soran before he had done any of his attacks? Or better yet, bring Kirk with to Wolf 359 and save the Federation fleet? I think that the finale of the movie is back in reality. But youre right its impossible to prove whether Picard or Kirk ever actually left the Nexus.
I didn’t think you’d spend the whole video saying the same thing over and over again, never explaining it, and then asking somebody to explain it to you. Yeah. I just unpaused it and that’s maybe the 4th time you’ve said it. Have a good one.
YES! I don't understand how they ever left the Nexus. For all we know everything that took place in Star Trek continuity after that movie was Picard's fantasy in the Nexus. That might explain how he became more of an action hero and less of a diplomat in First Contact and beyond.
Inside the Nexus, Picard finds a resurrected Captain Kirk. Picard convinces Kirk to leave the Nexus and help him stop Soran. They return to the past, just before Soran launches his missile to destroy the Veridian star. Kirk is fatally injured, but he and Picard are able to stop Soran's plan. Kirk dies, and Picard buries him on the planet Picard WAS in the Nexus but convinced Kirk to LEAVE the Nexus. This put both Kirk and Picard back on the planet at a point in time where Soran was going to release the missile. Time doesn't matter in the Nexus and they were able to go back in time, at which point Kirk and Picard stepped OUT of the Nexus and back into regular time. When you realize Picard was actually out of the Nexus when Kirk dies it should help clear up your confusion. The Enterprise still crashed, but the timeline was changed and the Nexus never caught Picard, so in reality, he never even went into the Nexus at all. This is why time travel is so difficult to work in a way which makes sense. It's best to avoid it but it is some of the best entertainment if done correctly. Back to the Future was a good example of how time travel actually makes sense, but even that got a little bizarre.
This is by far the best comment I EVER had! So thank you. I am still a bit confused, but as you say, time travel can be confusing if it's not told well. It does make some sense, though. Keep in mind, I'm a Star Trek FAN, not a geek or nerd, so I'm not really deep into the lore. I just enjoy watching it! Thanks again for the comment!
@@ActionNathanOakley He and Kirk left the nexus to stop Soren from blowing up the star that redirected the nexus and put Picard in the nexus in the first place. It's a time travel story that does present a bit of a grandfather paradox where Kirk can't be present to help Picard if Picard never entered the nexus to retrieve him. Ignoring the paradox, the story is Picard and Kirk travel back in time (because time is irrelevant in the nexus) and leave the nexus to prevent the destruction of the star in the real world. Since Picard and Kirk succeed, the star isn't destroyed, the nexus isn't redirected by the explosion and doesn't pass through the planet which prevents Picard from entering it.
@@ActionNathanOakley From the standpoint of an off-planet observer who never entered the nexus, Kirk materialized out of thin air helping Picard stop Soren, the nexus misses the planet, and Picard never enters it in the first place.
