If you press lightly they have no real impact. In fact you can vary the pressure - pressing hard where you know you’ll have darker paint and pressing lightly where there are lighter colour if you do not wish the undersketch to show as much. Watercolour does not affect the carbon. TIP 📌 I found you can lighten slightly with a kneadable eraser.
@@PotatoProductionsTheoAndMargie ohhhhh, my heart goes out to you. You should definitely paint him when you’re ready. They are amazing and loving dogs.
Thanks for the tutorial. I did this for awhile and works great. I saw another video where the artist, instead of a burnisher tool to trace on to paper, used a bone knife and scraped the drawing gently. I tried this and find I don't get the accidental indents on my paper and the transfer is light depending on the pencil used.
@@CrystalBesharaArtist i mean the whole piece since it's wood instead of the usual canvas. I bought a big one yesterday(1/2 inch thick) and cut it to smaller pieces. But even the 12" by 24" feels heavy. I'm not sure if potential buyers would like it. 🥹
@@louiecanaria9960 cradled wood panel and panel are very popular - as long as they are prepared in an archival manner. Clients fall in love with the artwork - don’t worry about the surface as long as it is professionally handled and packaged if shipping
Thanks for your video. I use water mixable oil, and clean my brushes with water. Is there anyway I can separate the oil paint from the dirty water ?, If I leave the mix even for days the paint does not sink to the bottom. I can't throw away the dirty water to the environment also since it contains the oil paint.
This is such an excellent question for which I unfortunately do not have the answer. I bet if you reached out to whatever brand you’re using, they would have suggestions!
Thank you! I've got all the wrong brushes for watercolors lol I'm gonna binge watch your channel and THEN buy your recommended supplies. Amazon here I come! Thank you thank you thank you!
i'm sorry, but I don't see any gray. I see toned down colors, but none of them grey. That may be my fault because I'm grey/green colorblind. Many times I can't tell grey from tan or green. But to my eye, NONE of these appear grey to me. One appears to Payne's grey, one appears to be dark purple and one appears to be shades of brown. NONE of them, to my eye, are grey.
If you want a predictable grey, you can use black and white. This video is specifically for creating DYNAMIC greys. Meaning a range of blues, felt browns, violets…. All of which are found in nature and in shadows as illustrated in the painting as seen in the first 30 seconds. You don’t have to use any advice as seen here.
Thank you so much. My wife handed me the block and asked me to "figure it out"! I couldn't and then I found your video. Not being in the 2 dimensional arts, this whole process seems bizarre to me. But it makes sense once you realize you don't take the sheet out and paint.
I use Da Vinci Violet which is formulated with PV23 (which is essentially DIOXAZINE) however W&N version : Winsor Violet or Cotman “DIOXAZINE” are options as well !
It made it smudge a little but otherwise it worked pretty well thanks😊 Edit: I waited for it to dry then tried again and it went away. Really helpful👍 If it doesn’t work for you it may be that you’re using too much water or pressure
Thanks for the note :) It also depends on the brush you’re using. Each component : amount of water, type of paper and bristles all effect the result (not to mention whether to w paint is staining or non staining ). Cheers!
Enjoyed this a lot, Crystal. I really enjoy how you explain your process. I love watching and hearing people describe this. It helps 'hit home' for me in my own practice and making improvements. Thanks so much for your video! A natural teacher.
Phenomenal work, Crystal! I've binged a few of your videos. Stunning work. Selfishly would love to see more of your oil work. I love your brushwork and colors.
Do you have a suggestion for how to get rid of wood fibers after already painting it? I can’t see the fibers but I can feel it on one of the drawer fronts.
Thank you for your inquiry ! We are no longer taking registration for this one but you can view other options here in my website: crystalbeshara.com/about-the-instructor
It depends on the brand but many archivists indicate “The modern pigment is lightfast, except when mixed with an abundance of white.” Which of course as a purist most don’t use white. That said you can use WINSOR BLUE if you’re concerned - however I’ve looked back at paintings of mine that are over 30 years old and nothing has changed. Hope this helps !
@@ValleyMermaid for sure ! I use DA VINCI - here’s a video on exactly how I set up my palette 🎨 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5E0337ydmso.htmlsi=t3dtvaz_oYsbpxv5
Beautiful clouds rendered well and clear narrative which is very important for any demo. Loved the visuals of cloud illustrations to explain the types of clouds. Personally I would prefer using cooler colours to make the grey in the stormy clouds. Fantastic demo 👍🏻
