We did a video call awhile back. I start basic law enforcement training and did very well. I progressed in many ways I didn’t think I could. I ended up getting kicked out today for defects in my character & could really use some help. I want to try again but not until I get my attitude/mindset fixed. It’s a very difficult time, I felt lost and still feel some of those emotions. Idk what to do, I work a Substance abuse program which aligns with where I’m at in the work that I’ve put in. I do hate that it happened this way. I was advise to at least work on these things before starting and my own self will set me up for self sabotage. Any thoughts are appreciated any support is appreciated, I have a hard time listening to people, especially people that don’t understand or speak this/my language. I might need more help than my current group as far as self inquiry and realization.

I agree. At first the message of nonduality may sound narcissistic, because you might hear it saying that there is only one-self. But this one-self is not a personal-self, it is the One Universal-Self, and therefore 'there are no others.' YourSelf=mySelf=All 8 billion of our Self's, which is perfect unified love. The purpose of any organised religion which demands submission is to hijack one's identity and to steer one away from unravelling its true nature... the concept of God was a huge obstacle to overcome when i was lingering upon the path to rebirth. For a brief moment I thought to be God after awakening, I'm here to help everyone, lol, After a day or two I grew to that understanding and knowledge no one needs help or saving because it is all part of the bigger picture. Good Evening from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Thanks for a profound discussion, specially the Mahavakyas of the Upanishads. A slightly different point, I teach Philosophy and Feminist Theories, I find the Agamas (Tantras) as profound as the Vedic knowledge. It is amazing how some of what the Tantra literature are saying, the notion of the Mahavidyas (the feminine Avataras) are closer to psychoanalysis and Lacanian theories. Although, the Upanishads, like Mandukya and so forth, are more centered, the Tantra breaks that centrism and kind of has a Nietzschean spiral; utilmately, they both meet. I wonder if any of you visited the Kamakhya Temple where the Devi menstruates in a cyclic fashion. I feel life, ecology, time all comes together in the Devi..... To begin with, I must complement you for this dialogue. Also, I would like to address the basic misunderstanding about the religion referred to as Hinduism. As Suresh rightly pointed out the word Hinduism is a reference basically to the geographical region than to belief system. Secondly, Sanatan Dharma is not a belief system as other religions are. Sanatan Dharma springs out from Darshan, meaning observation as science does. That is like Science Sanatan Dharma refers to the law of balance and harmony underlying existence based on direct observation of reality. Every truth must be verifiable based on subjective exploration and not on the basis of the authority of a person declaring himself as a prophet. The word for religion in India has been pantha, meaning a way, and Dharma is unequivocally distinguished from pantha, as attested in this shabad from Gurbani: “Manai magu na chalai pantha/ manai Dharma seti sanbandh “. That is to say, the enlightened mind is not bound by the injunctions of a religion, except for the Law of Balance. That is why Sanatan Dharma lays emphasis, as Suresh very rightly mentions, on the pursuit of wisdom to extend the boundaries of human consciousness.

You attention is Awareness. So the 'I' that is putting its attention on something is Awareness, which is Who You Are. Awareness (You) is therefore the experience of the absence of mental and physical sensation, which is exactly what you are experiencing. Western MInd -- Thought is the starting point and ending point. Eastern (Hindu especially) -- Thought is a aspect that provides supporting role towards Self Realization - The Goal.
Sanathana Dharma -- is not a Religion because Dharma is not Religion it can only be described (not translated) as "Eternal Law and Process for Harmonious and Meaningful Life " as English does not have a equivalent word for Dharma.

I think that only certain people, who have good karma, experience peace, love and bliss in self-inquiry. I just experience spacing out, getting lost in thought, remembering all of my mistakes and regrets of the past, worrying about the future and being uncomfortable and bored with the present moment. A lot of people must be this way, and so they quickly give up the practice and quit trying to realize the true nature, because they believe they cant do it. That is why only 2% seriously pursue awakening. For this reason, I suggest that anyone having difficulty in meditation and in inquiry, that they should be working directly with a teacher, or they will probably fail and give up.
I understand. 99.9% of us who attempt Self-inquiry experience what you mention. Yet, everyone of these disturbances are actually loving reminders that you have lost elf-attentiveness, and to therefore turn your attention inward again to keenly fixate it on Self. Use this question in Self-inquiry to 'knock down' the disturbances until they eventually do not return: Who is this I that _________(fill in the blank)________? Who is this I that spaces out? Who is this I that thinks? Who is this I that gets lost in thought? Who is this I that reminisces on past mistakes? Who is this I that worries about the future? Who is this I that is bored? These questions return your attention to Self. The more you return your attention to Self the more you remember the beautiful qualities of Self.
