Since its inception in 1975, BIGFOOT®, The Original Monster Truck®, has gone on to achieve worldwide notoriety, and spawned an entire family of BIGFOOT monster trucks that have pioneered the growth of the monster truck industry.
Created Bob Chandler and his wife Marilyn in 1975 as a promotional tool for their 4WD business, the BIGFOOT fleet has captured 34 National Championships, set numerous world records for monster trucks, and traveled to more than 26 countries. Since 1975, more than 20 BIGFOOT vehicles have been constructed, and today the team campaigns nine BIGFOOT monster trucks full-time in North America, in addition to one based full-time in England. The team appears in 700+ appearance days per year on average.
I remember an old video of Bigfoot driving down Lindbergh taken from inside the cab and can not for the life of me find it anywhere. I grew up by Village Square and the footage is from right around that area.
Dammit man that isn't that cool to crush 2 perfect trucks like that get some rusty junk that's why our generation don't have a good selection and there expensive TV shows destroying cars
I can just imagine all of the stories that they didn't tell. Two pioneers right there. Jim will always be my favorite monster truck driver. What an entertainer. He really knew how to give the crowd what they came for. Not to take anything away from Bob. His mud runs were epic.
Bigfoot 4 was my favorite one as a kid. 3 (I think with the chrome wheels) was a close 2nd. Now I'm partial to the original '74 ford. But all of them were gorgeous trucks!
I remember seeing this one up close in '79 at McCormick Place, Chicago. I was in awe then and to this day I am. Chandler was a true innovator. Thanks for posting!
My dad had an old dark blue 79 f150. Almost the same color as the original bigfoot. But it had a lift and a set of bias ply Q buchshots sitting under it. A beautiful truck. He called it. (Mr. Foot) That was the strongest 1/2 ton around. Ive never seen another 1/2 ton pull that truck. When my dad would hook chains and pull whoever else. He would always say,(you cant touch Mr. Foot) i miss that old truck. And yes, it had the 300 4 speed. It was a beast
