How many feet of water are you drifting in? Was just curious because I come from the NE coast of the Atlantic, was always curious about the Great Lakes and navigating in them.
When underway we were running in about 30' of water... drifting at the end in about 12'. In this part of the lake the bottom is pretty rocky in places, so you have to be careful getting close to the shore line.
I live on the south shore of Long Island NY. The south shore is sandy, the north shore is rocky. The Great Lakes boats seem to be a little cleaner than NE boats, for the most part. The salt water can be a little rough on equipment.
