One of the most difficult things to learn is the side mount but once you get it down pat you will never have to go thru the transom climbing circus show. It is essential for riding in big surf and if you have a stock motor its almost impossible unless you are really light. In the water you reach up to the bars from the left, tipping the ski towards you and turning the bars hard right against the stop - start the ski and hammer the throttle wide open while keeping tension on your right arm. The ass end of the ski dig down deep and you want to let the seat more or less come under your chest, then straighten the steering and let it drag you, then you knee up and sit. For a single rider, my 1993 Wave Blaster is a dream. On flat water you can cut and turn as quick as a professional slalom Skier. Yes it is tippy, If you aren't wet your not having fun ! It has the best lean in handling of any sit down PWC produced so far. Helmets are only needed if your in a competition. I also ride the 1994 Yamaha FX1 Stand -up for even more exercise .

i ride with a dirtbike helmet its awesome and most of them are dot approved, saved my life, if i wouldve had a half helmet i wouldve been hurting way worse, cant breath in a full face
Too bad the vastly superior DT50/LC ('89 bumble bee bought new) hasn't drawn the same cult status...That's fine with me, I've had over 5000 rides and well over ten thousand miles on the original top end. Them YSR's never seem to reach half that without an entire engine swap. The DT has over what the hazardous YSR has: 31" seat height, much more visible; 6 instead of 5 speeds; real Liquid Cooling; 30% more power; a friggin' tach fer chrissakes; a temp gauge; 62 vs. 53 mph top speed; more travel, adult sized 17"/ 19" wheels, and the option of not being an invisible underpowered street bike instead a fantastic trail bike that's the only 50 state street legal 2 stroke LIQUID COOLED dual sport (ever sold in US by any make then or since).
Great video very informative! I have question cause I have a back and neck problem and and dont have 400$ to spend on a carbon helmet ! I’ve been thinking about buying a cross helmet since they are lighter and my question goes: is it fine to wear it in the highway , the wind sound might be annoying at a certain speed no?
You don't have to buy inexpensive carbon fiber to get a very lightweight helmet there are some very good fiberglass and fiberglass mix helmets on the market that are quite light. Concerning your question about wind speed that's a good point depending upon two main factors the speed you will be traveling and the duration. An off road helmet at high speed for long distance might not be the best option for you. But at lower speed or for shorter distances it might be ideal. A pair of goggles rather than sunglasses will be better at higher speed. Generally I am riding between 30 and 60 miles an hour when I'm wearing an off road helmet on the street for any length of time. For short ride speeds up to 80 miles an hour wearing goggles instead of sunglasses is fine for me but I wouldn't ride like that for more than two or three hours at most. Another option that would give you the best of both worlds is an adventure touring helmet which has many of the benefits of an off-road helmet but has a quality functioning phase shield just like any street home. I have three AGV AX9 adventure touring helmets because I like this style so much.
I always have headphones or ear plugs in regardless of the helmet I wear. My visor catches the wind tho. So I'm thinking about taking it off my mx helmet for highway use
