I've watched so many of your video's now. I'm getting worried about the possibility of going to the lower realms like ghosts and animal. So we practice nianfo and do going deeds? If we make it to the pure lands, which our karma is brought over to, how will we resolve them all if we don't come back to this humanly existence?
Actually they're not all teachings of the Buddha. I believe the only text that directly came from the Buddha was the Pali Canon all other texts were added by various monks afterwards
I find the stories of reciters having a good death, seeing Amituofo, etc, some of which are contemporary, more convincing than any sutras, as I don't know the provenance of any of these sutras. If Shakyamuni B really said the words found in the PL Sutras, I would not dare to disbelieve.
Hi I just wanted to ask something urgent. My grandpa is dying and I want to know if I can chant Amituofo for him even though he has never heard of it. He is 92 and I feel very sorry for him. His oxygen is low and I don’t know what to do. Should I chant amituofo for him. He has never ever heard of it before. Please if anyone can answer please do.
Hi. Don't worry. Chanting "Amituofo" is beneficial but before that there are a few things to be remembered. Please go through this immediately - www.pure-land-buddhism.com/blog/three-important-matters-at-the-time-of-death It will answer your questions. Stay strong and do what is advised in the above link. Namo Amituofo 🙏
Look I’m really sorry to bother you I tried telling my family. So like I told my mom and she instead decided to chant Namo Buddhaya instead of Namo Amituofo and they are about to inject something to him to ease his suffering and he might pass very soon. Can you please recite something for him please. My name is Tiga and can you please transfer merit to my grandpa I don’t know what to do right now. My mom is Thai so she never heard of Amituofo and decided to chant Namo Buddhaya instead. Please. Thank you so much.
1) Tell your mother that Buddha Amitabha has specifically made vows to help people to be reborn in Sukhavati while other Buddhas have not done so. So, chanting "Namo Amituofo" is more beneficial than chanting "Namo Buddhaya" because it helps him be reborn in Sukhavati. Convince her to do so and tell her it is the best option for your grandfather. Be firm. 2) Stay by your grandfather's side and chant "Amituofo" in accordance with the instructions mentioned in the link. 3) There are "Amituofo" chants that you can play for him to listen to if you are unable to chant for long periods of time. Download an "Amituofo" chant from here - www.pure-land-buddhism.com/audio Choose an "Amituofo" chant from the link and play it and chant along with it.
Please, stay strong. Take refuge and trust Amitabha. 南无阿弥陀佛。Recite mantra and try to tame your mind, act in accordance with five rules and six paramitas.
"The highest good is not to seek to do good, but to allow yourself to become it. The ordinary person seeks to do good things, and finds that they can not do them continually. The Master does not force virtue on others, thus she is able to accomplish her task. The ordinary person who uses force, will find that they accomplish nothing. The kind person acts from the heart, and accomplishes a multitude of things. The righteous person acts out of pity, yet leaves many things undone. The moral person will act out of duty, and when no one will respond will roll up his sleeves and use force. When the Tao is forgotten, there is righteousness. When righteousness is forgotten, there is morality. When morality is forgotten, there is the law. The law is the husk of faith, and trust is the beginning of chaos. Our basic understandings are not from the Tao because they come from the depths of our misunderstanding. The master abides in the fruit and not in the husk. She dwells in the Tao, and not with the things that hide it. This is how she increases in wisdom." - Translated by J. H. McDonald, 1996, Chapter 38
Since 2014 i am buddhist, every night before sleep i recite amituofo ..i must to know what kind of buddhism you are? Teravada mahayana or pure land? 阿弥陀佛
Jian Wen, you repeat that you aren't intelligent enough for other paths, but I think that you are intelligent enough for evey path. How much time does practicing Pure Land Buddhism take? Is it compatible with practicing meditation and studying Buddhism while you are a lay person and work and have a normal life? About Mahayana Buddhism, do they practice only one kind of meditation? Is it samatha or vipassana?
yes , put into precepts practice constantly is the most hard. Usually our senses “habitual” reacted to various external influences , unless we stay in a cave alone or in heaven with their peaceful environment then this kind of externally influence would be much less n much easier for our practice esp the anger issue. bottomline is , try to be aware n let go of it good or bad. furthermore , negative things occur doesn’t necessarily be bad , at least more negative karma is exhausted , the positive will follow , just like the hell beings hav to exhaust their negative then later on they wud get a good rebirth.
Two things are proven by empirical evidence: that reincarnation exists and that almost everybody forgets everything when they reincarnate. Therefore we can't leave things to be accomplished in a future life, because we will probably forget our goal and our knowledge. If your goal is to make progress in Buddhism, progress as much as you can in this lifetime.
Information, even unimportant stuff, can stay in the subconscious for many years. Many years ago I made a drawing, and then I found a postcard that I hadn't seen in more than ten years, and the drawing was similar to the postcard.
I take refuge in Amitabha Buddha,I am a foul tempered drunken pig,but I chant Amituofo silently, sometimes aloud,I repent all I have done wrong.Namo Amituofo❤️🙏
Lots of controversy here. It has to do with the Japan schools’ divergence. The Jodo Shu/ Honen is quite in line with what you described here. The difference I see is the moment of death Nianfo. Jodo lineages do not consider that moment necessary for rebirth . I know the 13 Patriarchs lineages do think it is important. I do like that the Chinese lineage permits more advanced meditative Nianfo and has a non-dualistic approach well integrated into Orthodox Buddhism. I personally think we should keep the death-bed intention determinately and see what happens. I do appreciate Ippen’s approach in Japan but ultimately Master Yin Guang a more complete view and all his writings survive. The Orthodox Chinese PL allows for all classic Buddhist practices of concentration, precepts, discipline, conduct, faith. My objection to some of Shinran’s followers is that I don’t think we should approach any Buddhism dualistically. To some extent we should be open to learn from the other’s perspective. Amituofo !❤
It’s worth nothing that Nianfo (earnestly) already covers the precepts. This was said by Master Lianchi. Also, to sincerely aspire for rebirth to Sukhavati is to generate bodhicitta according to Master Ouyi.
@@1zhxzhx yes that’s also true, if one Nianfo with a pure mind then that covers the precepts. One can also generate bodhicitta to help save sentient beings here (to aspire for rebirth is also one type of bodhicitta, to help save sentient beings by sharing the Pure Land Dharma/the name of Amituofo here before one’s rebirth is a greater bodhicitta). Amituofo 🙏
@@roselavender2222 with Japanese you have three schools but the biggest is Jodo Shinshu which views purely other power, no precepts, no transfer of merit, simply is the first time you Nembutsu you are saved already and not at the end of your life, everytime we Nembutsu is to say thanks and show gratitude, that's the main difference
