In 1995, we spent a week with screen legend Ernest Borgnine and his son Cris as they drove across the Midwest in his 40-foot bus The Sunbum, taping them for a tv show we were pitching called ERNEST BORGNINE ON TOUR. This was a reality tv show five years ahead of the curve. Nobody in show biz was interested, but we had enough footage for a one hour documentary we called ERNEST BORGNINE ON THE BUS. It was well received in film festivals, on regional PBS, and on home video. In honor of Ernie's 95th birthday, we wanted to share the entire week because it was such a fun time on the road. Working with Ernie and Cris was a blast, and we are glad to be able to share it with you . As Ernie says 'God bless.' And thanks. www.jeffkrulik.com
Such a REAL guy just wanted to go out and experience America and its people before he died. Not just hideaway in a Malibu mansion golfing all day … respect ✊
I saw this video years ago and I guess my aging memory is playing with me. I thought there was more at the restaurant about the meal and Ernie talking to owners a bit more. Oh well. I know he does at the ice cream place.
When Ernie answers her question at 6:25 about his home(?), hecsays he has two; one in Beverly Hills and one in Orange...(??). Does anybody hear tge first place/location he gives? I doubt he said Orange Co.
He onced lived in Auburn,Ca in a beautiful brick house on not much acres right off Lincoln way. I'm not finding the info right now when searching and do not know the dates. I lived on and off in Auburn since 1977. I was into movies but did not really follow where actors lived until recently. I do remember a lot of news about when john travolta was in the Auburn area to film phenomenon. First thing that pops into my head is Travolita driving himself around town in a white pickup truck.
So I was a little off , Ernest bought the house for his x wife Donna and 2 or 3 kids they had together back in the 70's . Addy is 150 Lincoln way, Auburn,Ca which is on the market right now. I'm almost the same age as his son Chris. But their kids went to Alta Vista and I went to Rock Creek elementary school. He was married 5 times,so I'm not certain what last name Donna used and how many kids they had together.Either two or three.
He said his stuff was before those workers time but I bet they all know mermaid man . Even tho escape from New York was before my time Iv seen that movie a hundred times . He was also in trey Parker and Matt stones movie baseketball.
Ernie was one of the NICEST, SMARTEST, MOST DOWN TO EARTH, AWARD WINNING ACTORS THAT WE HAVE EVER SEEN. He was definetely one of a kind and is missed terribly. RIP Ernie we miss people like you.
Stop trying to force Nirvana on Ernest Borgnine...lol! He's into the classics, and it's perfectly understandable why. These days I often find myself going back to an older time even though he'd be double my age if he were still here today. But I totally get it... What's going on today within western society is totally unacceptable. And a lot of it starts with culture. And music is definitely a part of culture. I didn't used to think that way when I was younger. But my mother and father were born around the same time as Ernest, my mother in 1918 and father in 1925, so I can see where they're coming from and see what Ernest was saying on the bus here. I was born in '79. So it's a massive difference. But growing up in the 80's I can easily see that this country and its culture is going way down hill and in the wrong direction. And I can easily see how Ernest and my mother and father's generation must have seen it as being much worse due to the major cultural clashes that took place in thier earlier days and into their later years.
An absolute legend Lived to good age in his mid 90's from memory and worked up until the year he died An incredible actor n all that met him even for a few seconds say he was an incredible and kind man McHales Navy was the best
I have no idea how this wound up in my feed, but I’m delighted to watch it. One of the greatest film actors of all time and these kids have no idea who he is.
I am curious, when was this filmed? I fantasize about being a film star 'back then'. I imagine being on a movie set with my own trailer. But I always wondered, what would it actually be like? Ernest Borgnine just gave me a deep and detailed view!
My grandfather was a carbon copy of Mr. Borgnine. He looked, talked, and was built the same, even the split teeth. People used to always mention how much he looked like Mr. Borgnine. We lost my grandfather in 1987 but as long as Mr. Borgnine was around so was my grandfather. I remember watching this and shaking my head at the similarities with Mr. Borgnine driving that bus and knowing my grandfather was himself a truck driver.
