Probably a lithium battery that’s just been thrown in the rubbish and has had thermal runaway either from a short or damage and has ignited the rest of the contents of the truck!
Enjoyed your presentation on New York Ontario Western. Years ago I had an aunt and uncle that lived upstate New York town of Sherburne did the Ontario Western Railroad run through that town?
Used to hike these lines; traced them from Middletown onwards; (actually Harriman; beautiful station since torn down) lines ran along Route 17 "ish"after Middletown, tunnels under 17, then heads North; there is a patched up tunnel right at wurtsboro area; one station I think was a VFW etc; line went up along 209, ( if i remember, one was high, the other one a tad lower, then crossed over 209 and up to Mountaindale. On the way up to Mountaindale, if you look over to the left, there is a piece of property, I think a small campground etc, with huge cement abutments up against the hillside, shortly after that it crossed over the road and hit downtown Mountaindale
Before Winterton the foundations of the double tracked trestle across the Shawangunk Kill can still be seen. The trestle and tracks were removed shortly after abandonment.
An NW2 #116 passed from NYO&W to NYC, PC, Conrail and on to NYS&W was sold to an isolated tourist operation up near Cooperstown somewhere. 2 44tonners still exist as well.
hi. I added comment in November calender of great grandpa & gram. O&W travel NYC to Buffalo. please explain follow from Kingston, Liberty, Ellenville, to Buffalo. how was possible, please
Over the O&W main line to an interchange with other roads connecting to Buffalo. Could have been in Utica with the NYC RR or at Oneida where the line crossed under the NYC main at the shared station.
@15:51 The Mechanicstown station burned down a few years ago. I was actually reviewing this last night... I remember seeing that building, and only recently found out that the building burned down.
Arson was suspected. It was the former Rusty Nail restaurant, they turned the station 90 degrees from its former orientation to face the road. It was wildly popular when it opened but declined then sat abandoned, then burned.
I was there! Idk if you remember me or not but the second night The Fab Faux preformed Will Lee called down to me and asked what song they were going to do next.
