I’m new to your channel and I am enjoying your videos. I’m assuming that the Proraso didn’t come in that dispenser so how do you get the soap in there?
Welcome to my channel. When I got my last tub of Proraso Red, I transfered it into an empty pushup container. Then I took the stickers and put them on the new container. I am getting down to the end of the container, so soon I will be refilling it with some more Proraso Red shave soap. I like using sticks whenever possible. I did the same with some Arko stick. I put it in a push up dispenser. Check out my blog. jrshaving.blogspot.com ,
I started shaving with a straight about a decade ago and only used a straight for a least 3 of those ten years. Then I got lazy and used a safety razor every other shave. These days I use a safety razor most of the time, with a straight shave perhaps twice a month. At that rate, I no longer have a "rotation" with the razors and use just a couple of the dozens that I own. A 5/8" Eskilstuna and Dubl Duck get all the shave time now for the straights. I will say there's also a learning curse with various aspects of safety razors, like which blades to look for and ones to avoid and the like. As inexpensive as the blades are, I cannot wrap my head around the logic of spending $20+ a month on razors when you could spend that for an entire year of blades and for shaves just as smooth and nearly as fast as some silly and expensive 7-blade contraption. Yesterday I decided to give these Rolls Razors a go as they're pretty darn cheap. I bought two (one in excellent condition, the other NOS in box) off Ebay and I find these tutorials of extreme value while learning about them before their arrival. One thing I noticed about this video is that you're quite confident with those long strokes. Even after years of shaving with an open blade, I'm still taking those timid, little half-inch strokes. Haven't cut myself in years, so I think I'll stick to my pansy method, though I'm impressed by your style. Thanks for the video!
Shade-Matic, well named Jim👍 Looks similar to my Yaqi SE head ... which I like very much. Unfortunately I haven't been able to source that soap at reasonable cost (postage), never mind I have plenty of other soaps ... Nice clean shave Jim, take care brother👌😎👌
I will think about that. Last time I did an inventory, I had over 150 razors. At my age, I need to start uncollecting razors and start a program of razor re-distribution.

Wonderful shave Jim. I have never seen that blade before, but it looks cool. I guess you slide the blade in the razor just like you would with a Rolls Razor Blade. Anyway, I am sure you are going to have a blessed time with Charlie and his wife. Charlie as an interesting sense of humor so how can it be otherwise. Have a great week.
I almost remember those unique Techmatic "space-age" razors when they came out in the late 1960's, I was using Electric razors at that time. I also did my yearly skin check and thankfully I got the all clear with no biopsy this time, just a bit of mild dermatitis. Take care JR👌😎👌
Well done Jim with the one pass shave, well one and bit anyway, something I have attempted but don't get very clean, I'm normally a 3.5 pass shaver but can do 2.5 pass shave if I'm in a hurry (which is rarely). Take care my friend👌🤠🤟
Terrific shave Jim. Can't go wrong ending with the Veg. I can get away with a 2 pass shave, but I usually do 3 because I get a great result. Have a great weekend.
Wonderful shave Jim. Charlie sent me some stuff from Chris' den, too. Chris was a decent guy. As you may know, he was the first overseer of the 30 DC thread on The Shave Den forum. He encouraged me to take the helm of that thread. He was very supportive of me. I will give some of Chris' stuff to a guy at church who wants to start wetshaving. Chris left a fine legacy in representing the wetshaving community. Take care.
I wonder how the shave would change if you took some wire clippers and cut out that rear section that rests on the center stud? The blade would lay much flatter and I assume it would get more Agressive. I’ll have to try this and do a shave with and without changing the blade angle.
Yes, and it was before there were cutouts in the blades. 4.bp.blogspot.com/-rxUZbkZmiYo/XGLJzH5XOSI/AAAAAAACECM/snsqfEwtrsMY2Ve3hUoQ9OMc2aB5P2vQACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_9824.JPG
