When you have dark backgrounds that are just behind the model, there won't be much advantage with an f1.2 lens, especially a 50mm. Outside , looking for good bokeh is another matter. Those indoor, dark shots are perfect with a nifty 50.
This was my first RF lens. Performance and optical quality is a given, but it was the size and weight that sealed the deal. I upgraded from a Tamron 70-200mm.
It is too bad that the mainstream backpack manufacturers (e.g. Osprey, Seek Outside) are not consulting with those making camera bags. There is no camera backpack on the market today, even Shimoda, that can match the comfort of those top-end bags. I hope that Osprey will someday make a photography backpack.
I bought the R5C 20 months ago with my primary business being photography but pressure from my clients to shoot film. Having a high end performance cinema camera paired with everything bar IBIS really smashed it and increased my business. The battery really isn’t an issue. Photography just use normal batteries however if using for film use a dtap battery in your pocket or rig it up. Shutter angle has spoilt me. Never stress about calculating shutter speeds. Audio options, limitless 4k 120 & 8k 60. I don’t find the fan on the back makes you anymore visible as a photographer. Number of customisable buttons is a game changer. Simply love it. It’s a true hybrid of both professional stills and film.
@@streetsmart3466 ‘pressure from my clients to shoot film. Having a high end performance cinema camera paired with everything bar IBIS really smashed it and increased my business.’ Doesn’t say shoot ON film. There is still a market to shoot film though.
@@streetsmart3466 it’s not video (tape) in the same sense it’s not physical film. Take your semantic gripes & inability to read elsewhere. I’m not interested. Adios.
@@global001 You're the one that can't communicate. A digital camera records video. Video is not limited to tape, genius. Film is celluloid strips with peripherals. You know nothing about photography and there couldn't be anyone in the world less deserving of a Canon R5 C then the likes of you. Just sell your camera, i doubt someone like you has any talent. Why don't you go be a bartender or something.
Thanks for these suggestions! I appreciate when you mentioned a couple of times, "there's no right or wrong way to do this." Love the photos in this video, too :)
Hey man! Love your work. Question : when you shoot with fuji, which basic film simulation are you shooting with in RAW ? Is there a basic setup wich is ideal for editing (Classic Chrome...) ? Thanks :)
Thank you for the video! I love your photography. Sometimes, as you said, studying others' work inspires and teaches more than tons of books with dry theory.
This pack costs over $450. The base pack is only about $340, but you can't really call it a photo backpack unless you buy the core unit for another $120-150.
From looking at your pictures, you hardly used only two primes. I spot 24mm, 23mm apc-s which is 35FF, and 50mm so far, that is three. Good pictures of travel though. Personally I use 35 and 75mm FF equivalent.
Thanks for the comment! I only grabbed the Fuji off my wife on one day really haha for a few shots since we were on a ferry it was hard to change any lenses around! Thought they were still worth showing!
Credible review. With editing software to do selective blurs and transformations to solve (some) architectural distortions, I don’t have a compelling use-case for making the buy. Does it come w/lens hood? (Dog is hiding, right?😊). BTW, you should probably pin your comment to keep it topside.😊 Cheers!
@paulm8157 thank you! Some great points here. It's only the tilt functions for me, selective blur in post improves but it's definitely not quite the same as actual blur at this stage. But as you mentioned I find transformations in post enough for my type photography. Some might disagree. It's definitely more the creative side to this lens I like, let's see how often I use it moving forward though!
Well, honestly, you separated shit from crap. 😦 Looking at the breakdown and the fan responses, it is a great question of choice. Maybe, when it is time to make my decision, and I like to have the best, may go with the R5, since I like to own the best whether I use it or not. The key and the breaking point here is how you separated the photo from the video category. To me, that was the beauty of your review. Thank You.
You did not like the old "chunky stand"? Really? Don't you think there was a REASON for it being chunky? It is called STABILITY. And so what that it was "chunky"? It was only taking space below monitor that is almost never used anyway OR you could still easily put stuff on top of that stand, no problem. Its not like it was 10 cm thick. And this new stand??? No way it prevents a 27 inch monitor from wobbling like crazy with any slight movements on the desk, even when just putting your hands on the desk. I don't even need to test it to understand it. It is just geometry. Unfortunately, they all are doing it now, Dell too changed to this type of terrible, unstable stand. They only kept old "chunky" stand for a few of their most expensive models. I bought a Dell monitor recently with this new type of stand, its absolutely terrible, too wobbly on the desk.
Used both for a long time now. Had absolutely no issues with stability never notice it moving in the slightest. Even moving my desk up and down. Looks are subjective sure but I can't fault its functionality in any way.
@@TKNORTH Hey, thanks for your reply. That is interesting. Maybe I jumped to conclusions too quickly here, will check it for myself if/when I get a chance. The smaller stand on this one seemed similar to me to those new stands on most of Dell's recent models, so I thought this would be bad too. I can confidently say that Dell's new monitor stands are terrible, as I have just purchased one, 27 inch 4K type. Did not expect it to be that wobbly, am very disappointed. But still, I would much rather prefer the OLD type of monitor stand in any case ( the type that BenQ SW240 still has, the one Dell U2410 had, etc) as that one was rock solid.
Hi! Great review. I have a question though, can the 25 or 30L fit a thick laptop in an EVA case on the back or front laptop compartment? Mine is an ASUS TUF 15.6 gaming laptop at 3cm Thickness that I put in an EVA case for additional protection with 4.5cm thickness when the laptop is inside. I'm just curious because most of my camera bags will fit my laptop but with the Hardshell EVA case then it wont fit anymore. I'm a casual gamer and have mirrorless camera gears and a small drone when I travel. Laptop EVA case with Laptop inside Dimensions are: Length 28cm x Thickness 4.5cm x Height 49cm. Hope you can answer. Thank you!
Very helpful video! I use a Shimoda 30L for the initial travel and event work but have a WANDRD sling bag for the quick day trips around town or a short hike. I find the slings are everything you said in this video and the backpack is an excellent comfortable long day and big travel addition. One thing I cannot stop seeing is the DJI pocket 3 it sounds like it's the must-have new small video camera.
